OTAGO ROADS ORDINANCE 1871.
Alteration of Polling Places.
WHEREAS by notice and appointment dated the eighteenth day of June, 1872, published in Otago Provincial Gazette, the polling places for the respective districts and subdivisions of districts therein mentioned, under and by virtue of the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” were duly fixed and appointed until the same shall be altered or varied: And whereas it is expedient that the polling places in the districts and subdivisions of districts after-mentioned should be altered:
Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby revoke the appointment of the polling places for the district and subdivisions after-mentioned made by the notice and appointment dated the 18th day of June 1872, and in lieu thereof do hereby appoint the places after-mentioned to be the polling places for the district and subdivisions of district after-mentioned at which the poll shall be taken at all elections under the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” held for the same until duly altered or varied, of which notice is hereby given to all concerned:—

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, this twelfth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

SCHEDULE.
Thomas Craig, on behalf of the Perseverance Company, for four acres of land, more or less, as the same may be found after survey to be within the pegs and trenches of the applicants, situated at lower end of Peyton flat, at Sand hills.
To all to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting—
WHEREAS it is expedient that a Commission should be appointed to inquire into and report upon the present condition of the Boys’ High School, Dunedin, and to make such general suggestions as to the advancement of the Higher Education in the Province as may commend themselves to their consideration: Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby nominate and appoint The Honorable Major John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Speaker of the Legislative Council, and Chancellor of the University of Otago; Professor John Shand, M.A.; Robert Stout, Esq., M.P.C., Barrister-at-Law; and John Hislop, Esq., Inspector of Schools, to be Commissioners for the purposes aforesaid; and I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Honorable J. L. C. Richardson to be chairman of the said Commission.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
IN conformity to the 29th section of the “Gold Fields Act 1866,” and to the Regulations made there under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden at Queenstown on or before the 23rd day of May, 1873.
Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Queenstown.
His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed James Grieve, Rockland Station, Deep Stream, and John Ayson, junr., Wyndham, Popotunoa, to be Honorary Inspectors of Sheep for the Province of Otago.
