hill at back of Hundred, behind Mr Thomson\'s purchased
land, known as Galt\'s Hill, and that part of Mataura Flat
situated between north bank of Marairua Creek and sod
fence erected by Mr Galt across main road from edge of
terrace to bank of Mataura river.
5th. Great cattle may be depastured on the remainder
of the Hundred.
It having been brought to the notice of the Board, that
a number of the returns for 1873 have been incorrectly
made, and also that persons are pasturing cattle without
licenses, notice is given that returns in the form provided
in the twelfth schedule to the Otago Waste Lands
Act, 1872, must be sent to the ranger, on or before the
14th May, 1873, otherwise state steps will be taken
to enforce terms of clauses 180 and 181 of Waste Lands
Act, 1872, which provide for a penalty of £50.

Bye-Laws.

1st. No cattle from any diseased district, or which
shall have been driven through any diseased district, shall
be placed on the Hundred until the owner or person in
charge of the same shall have produced to the Ranger a
certificate from the qualified inspector, to the effect
that such cattle are free from the disease called pleuro
pneumonia, and satisfactory evidence that they have been
free of that disease during the preceding six months.
2nd. No person shall disturb or harass cattle lawfully
depasturing upon the Hundred, provided always that
any person holding a licence to depasture cattle within
the Hundred, or any person duly authorised by him, may
drive such cattle for the purpose of collecting such as may
belong to him and for the legitimate use of the right of
pasturage within the Hundred; but in case it should be
necessary for such purpose to drive any cattle belonging
to any other person a greater distance than half a mile,
the person so driving such cattle must be the person in
charge of the same stockyard, and then separate his own
cattle from those of other persons, and return the latter
to the place from whence they were driven.
3rd. Every person removing cattle from the Hundred
shall give twenty-four hours notice in writing of number
and description of the same to the nearest Warden.
4th. All cattle which may die from any cause whatever,
the owner, or person in charge thereof, shall bury the
same within twenty-four hours from death, or within
twenty-four hours of information of the death being given
to such owner or person in charge.
6th. If any cattle be suspected of being diseased, the
Ranger may appoint a place within the boundaries within the Hun-
dred, within which such cattle shall be confined.
6th. Any person offending against any of the fore-
going Bye-laws shall forfeit any sum not exceeding five
pounds for every such offence.

MOKORETA HUNDRED.

1st. The number of cattle which may be depastured on
the Mokoreta Hundred, in the year 1872, shall be two
thousand one hundred and sixty great cattle, or thirteen
thousand eight hundred small cattle.
2nd. Each holder of a licence to depasture cattle upon
the Waste lands within the Mokoreta Hundred shall be
entitled to depasture in the year 1873 one head of great
cattle or five head of small cattle for every seven acres of
land which he shall own or occupy, exclusive of
those which he is entitled to depasture free.
3rd. No sheep shall be depastured during the current
year on that part of the Hundred north of the Wyndham,
excepting on the ground between the Redan and the
Wyndham, and on the plain between the swamp on the
east and the Mataura on the west, and at the Wyndham
and the Mimihau on the south and north; also on
the part of the Hundred south of the Wyndham, excepting
the ground between the Don and the east boundary of
the Hundred.
4th. Great cattle may be depastured on the remainder
on the remainder of the Hundred.

TOETOES HUNDRED.

1st. That the common Waste Lands within the Hun-
dred are capable of depasturing 3016 great cattle or
15,080 sheep.
2nd. That license holders shall be entitled to depasture
at the rate of 25 head great cattle or 125 sheep for every
100 acres owned or occupied, exclusive of those they are
entitled to depasture free.
3rd. Sheep may be depastured on that part of the Hun-
dred bounded on the north by the boundary of the Hun-
dred, on the west by the Mataura river, on the south by the
Tutu-wi-wi creek, following the Tutu-wi-wi to Spud
bush, thence by a line from Spud bush to the nearest
point of the Titiroa, following the Titiroa to the boundary
of the Hundred; also the country between Jacks
creek, the Tokanui, and the sea. Great cattle may be
depastured on the remainder of the Hundred.
4th. That the following be the cattle allowed to be
depastured on payment by the several license holders
respectively, for the year ending 31st December, 1873:—

Bye-Laws.

1st. All license holders shall within fourteen days from
the date hereof register with the Ranger a statement of all
cattle (great and small) being depastured by them on the
common waste lands of the Hundred, in the form provided
in the 14th schedule of the \"Otago Waste Lands Act
1872.\"
2nd. Anyone, whether license holder or person travel-
ling stock, about to bring stock on the Hundred or to
remove stock therefrom, shall before doing so give written
notice to the Ranger.
3rd. No person shall in any way disturb or harass
cattle, great or small, depastured within the Hundred,
further than may be necessary for the purpose of collect-
ing and dealing with such of them as may belong to him.
4th. The penalty for any breach of the foregoing Bye-
laws shall be a sum not exceeding five pounds, to be
recovered in a summary way, in accordance with the
172nd section of the \"Otago Waste Lands Act 1872.\"

PROVINCIAL COMPULSORY LAND TAKING ACT 1866.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended to intro-
duce a Bill into the Provincial Council of the
Province of Otago, at its next Session, authorising the
Superintendent of the Province of Otago to take compul-
sorily for the purpose of completing a road in the Walton
Road District, parts of sections numbered respectively
forty-nine and fifty (49 and 50), block seven (7), Dunedin
and East Taieri Survey District, of the Province of Otago
aforesaid; also for the purpose of completing a road in
the Portobello Road District, part of section numbered
twenty-eight (28) block five (5), Portobello Survey Dis-
trict, of the Province of Otago aforesaid; also for the
purpose of completing a road in the Portobello Road Dis-
trict, part of section numbered twenty-two (22), block five
(5), of the Portobello Survey District, of the Province of
Otago aforesaid; also for the purpose of completing a road
in the Port Molyneux Road District, parts of sections
numbered respectively eleven (11) and twelve (12), block
two (2), South Molyneux Survey District, of the Province
of Otago aforesaid; also for the purpose of completing a
road in the Port Molyneux Road District, part of section
numbered fifteen (15), block two (2), Glenomaru Survey
District, of the Province of Otago aforesaid; and for the
purpose of completing a road in the Motupipi Road Dis-
trict, parts of sections numbered respectively five (5) and
six (6), block three (3), East Taieri Survey District, of the
said Province of Otago; and also for the purpose of com-
pleting a road in the Caversham and Mornington Road Dis-
tricts, parts of sections numbered respectively five (5) six (6),
and sixty-five (65) block six (6) Town District, Province of
Otago aforesaid; and also for the purpose of completing a road
in the Mornington Road District, parts of sections num-
bered respectively six (6), block two (2), six (6) and eight
(8), block three (3), sections seven (7) and eig it (8), block
four (4), Township of Mornington, being part of section
ninety-two, block six, Town District aforesaid; and part
