Hill, being part of section numbered seventy-six (76), block six (6), Town District aforesaid, and part of allotment numbered thirty-six (36), block three (3), Township of Richmond Hill, being part of section numbered seventy-seven (77), block six (6), Town District aforesaid; also for completing a Road in the North-East Valley Road District, parts of sections numbered one (1) and two (2), Upper Harbor West District, and parts of sections numbered thirty (30), thirty-one (31), and thirty-three (33), Sawyer’s Bay District, Province of Otago aforesaid; also for the purpose of completing a road in the Breadalbane Road District, part of section numbered thirty-two (32), block one (1), Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District of the Province of Otago aforesaid; also for the purpose of completing a road in the North Taieri Road District, parts of sections numbered respectively forty-four (44), forty-five (45), and forty-six (46), irregular block, East Taieri District, five (5), six (6), and twelve (12), block thirteen (XIII), and one (1), block five (V), East Taieri District of the Province of Otago aforesaid; and also for the purpose of completing a road line in the Portobello Road District, part of sections numbered respectively four (4) and five (5), block three (III), Otago Peninsula District: And notice is hereby further given, that a copy of the Bill so intended to be introduced as aforesaid, may be inspected at the office of the Clerk of the Provincial Council of Otago aforesaid, on and after the second April, day of 1873.

PROCLAMATION

Of a Gaol at Roxburgh in the Province of Otago.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS it is expedient to Proclaim the Lock-up at Roxburgh, in the Province of Otago to be a Public Gaol.

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance of the power in me vested in me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the Lock-up or Watch-house at Roxburgh, in the Province of Otago, shall henceforth be a Public Gaol.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago this third day of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

NOTIFICATION

Of the Establishment of a Pound at Hillend.

NOTICE is hereby given, that by virtue of the powers vested in me by the "Impounding Ordinance, 1872," I have established a Pound on section numbered thirty-eight, block seven, Hillend District, in the Province of Otago, New Zealand, and that I have appointed

ALEXANDER NELSON,

of Lovel’s Flat, in the said Province, to be Keeper of the said Pound.

PUBLIC NOTICE.

Under section I. of Regulation IV.

WHEREAS I have received sufficient proof that the portion of the Otago Goldfield, described in the Schedule hereto, is for the whole or the greater part of an inferior character as regards the value of its gold deposits:

Now, therefore, I hereby give notice that the same may be occupied by holders of Miners’ Rights in claims of the undermentioned size:—

One (1) acre for each holder of a miner’s right, provided that no block claim shall comprise more than six (6) acres altogether.

All that portion of the Otago Goldfield, situate at Enterprise Gully, Mount Ida, near Creighton’s Upper Race, and comprising one acre or thereabouts; bounded on the north by Crown land 100 yards, on the south by old workings and Crown land 100 yards, on the east by Crown land 50 yards, and on the west by old workings and Crown land 50 yards.

18th April, Friday, noon, three cows, a steer, and a heifer will be sold at Popotunoa Pound.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works, until noon of Tuesday, 22nd April, 1873, for

Contract No. 725.—Erection of Stone Bridge over the North Branch of the Otepopo River.

Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the Office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin; and at Police Camp, Oamaru.

Tenders to be indorsed “Roads and Works tender for Contract No. 725.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 22nd April, 1873, for

Contract No. 727.—Formation, Pitching and Gravelling about 80 chains of Road through Township of Havelock.

Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the Office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at Police Camp, Waitahuna.

Tenders to be indorsed, “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 727.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 22nd April, 1873, for

Contract No. 728.—Metalling about 5 miles of road Tokomairiro to Tuapeka, commencing at the Toll-bar and terminating at the Bridge near Murray’s.

Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at Police Camp, Tokomairiro.

Tenders to be indorsed “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 728.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 22nd April, 1873, for

Contract No. 729.—Construction of portion of road, Tokomairiro to Coast, through Messrs Landels and Lawrence’s property, near Coast, between pegs 0 and 32.

Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at School-house, Wangaloa.

Tenders to be indorsed “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 729.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 22nd April, 1873, for

Contract No. 730.—Construction of portion of road, Tokomairiro to Coast, through Mr Thos. Lawrence’s property, near Coast, between pegs 22 and 37.

Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at School House, Wangaloa.

Tenders to be indorsed “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 730.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

IT is hereby notified that a Writ issued for the Election of a person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the District of Dunedin, in place of Edward Bowes Cargill, Esquire, resigned, has been duly returned with a Certificate dated 4th April, 1873, to the effect that
