NOTICE is hereby given that the Agricultural Lease of sections 34, 61, and 65, block VIII, Shotover District, issued in favor of Joseph Eckersall, has been cancelled, and the land is now open for application under the Agricultural Lease Regulations.

THE following Rules and Regulations have been submitted to the Superintendent and Executive Council in terms of the “Cemeteries Reserves Management Ordinance 1864,” and are published for general information.
TAPANUI CEMETERY RULES AND REGULATIONS,
Made in pursuance of Section V. of the “Cemetery Reserves Management Ordinance 1864,” for the management of the Public Cemetery at Tapanui.

The managers shall divide a portion of the Cemetery into two classes, viz:

Class 1st being ground of which the perpetual and exclusive right may be acquired, but the purchasers shall not have the right of enclosing it with a fence or erecting a headstone or monument thereon unless with the consent of the managers as stated in clause 7 of the “Cemetery Reserves Management Ordinance 1864.” A portion of land of this class shall be staked off in lots for single graves, 8 feet by 4 feet. These lots shall be sold: one lot for £1, two lots for £1 10s, and every lot after the first 10s.

Class 2nd being a portion of ground which has been set aside for the interment of such persons as are not purchasers of, and have not acquired a right to private ground. On ground of this class no monument or memorial whatever shall be allowed, and no grave shall under any circumstances be opened for any new interment sooner than after the expiry of five years from the time of the first or last interment as the case may be.
General Regulations.

All graves shall be six feet deep, but in the event of the purchasers of private ground desiring greater depth, an extra charge of 3s. per foot shall be made.

The managers shall provide all necessary furniture and attendance for properly conducting interments.

Any purchasers of private ground in which no interment has taken place, may transfer his or her interest in said ground to any other person, upon payment being made to the Clerk for the time being a fee of 5s. for such transfer.

A plan of the Cemetery shall be prepared showing particularly the lots so laid off together with the numbers thereof.

The Clerk for the time being shall keep a book in which he shall enter from time to time the number of every lot sold, the name of the purchaser thereof together with the date of the sale of the same, and shall keep a record of the burials in the Cemetery.

The Clerk for the time being shall receive the purchase money for the sale of such lots and shall give a receipt for the same, which receipt shall be held conclusive evidence of the purchase and selection of the lots mentioned therein.

In all cases of intended interment, the person having the management or control of the same shall apply to the Clerk for the time being for warrant for such interment which warrant the said Clerk is hereby authorised to grant upon payment to him of the following fees, viz:
Digging grave, above 10 years of age, 15s.; under 10 years of age, 10s.; attendance and dressing ground, above 10 years of age, 5s.; attendance and dressing ground, under 10 years of age, 3s.

The said warrant when received by the gravedigger shall be sufficient authority to him for such interment.

The moneys arising from the sale of such lots, and the said fees shall (after deducting therefrom all necessary expenses incurred and to be incurred) be expended in improving the Cemetery.

The managers shall publish a statement once a year, showing the amounts received and paid by them on account of the Cemetery.
- All ordinary meetings of the managers shall be held on the first Wednesday of January, April, July and October, at 7 o’clock p.m., commencing in January 1873.
Special meetings may be called by the Clerk at any time.
- The said Record book shall be open for the inspection of the public on paying a fee of one shilling for each inspection.

Contract No. 708—Construction of timber bridge over Jacob’s river.
Plans and specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at the Court-house, Riverton.
Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 708.”
The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 11th Feb., 1873, for:
Contract No. 709—Formation of portions of the bridle track between Moke creek and the Upper Moonlight.
Contract No. 710—Formation of portion of the bridle track between Skippers and the Shotover branches.
Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at Police Camp, Queenstown.
Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 709” or “710” as the case may be.
The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
PAYMENT TO BE MADE IN LAND OR CASH, AT THE OPTION OF GOVERNMENT.
TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 11th Feb., 1873, for:
Contract No. 711—Construction of timber bridge over the Mataura river at the Pyramids.
Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at White’s Accommodation House, Pyramids.
Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 711.”
The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
FRESH TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 11th Feb., 1873, for:
Contract No. 698—Construction and delivery of twenty railway goods wagons at the Bluff and Invercargill Railway.
Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at Railway Office, Invercargill.
Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 698.”
The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 18th February, 1873, for:
