PUBLIC NOTICE

Under Section 1 of Regulation IV.

WHEREAS I have received sufficient proof that the portion of the Otago Goldfield, described in the Schedule hereto, is for the whole or the greater part of an inferior character as regards the value of its gold deposits: Now, therefore, I hereby give notice that the same may be occupied by holders of Miners’ Rights in claims of the undermentioned size—

One (1) acre for each holder of a Miner’s Right, provided that no Block Claim shall comprise more than six (6) acres altogether.

Given under my hand at Naseby, this 23rd day of December, 1872.

SCHEDULE.

All that portion of the Otago Goldfield, situate at west side of Wet Gully, Mount Ida, comprising two acres more or less, and bounded as follows: commencing at a point 16 yards S.S.W. from the south-west corner of Grace’s paddock; thence 100 yards S.W.; thence east right angles N.W. 100 yards; thence again at right angles N.E. 100 yards; and thence S.E. 100 yards to the starting point.

SCHEDULE.

All that portion of the Otago Goldfield, situate at Middle Gully (a tributary of Wet Gully), Mount Ida, between Creighton’s head race and Noble’s residence area. Dimensions, 160 yards north and south, by 60 yards east and west. The east and west sides are bounded by wrought ground.

SCHEDULE.

All that portion of the Otago Goldfield, situate at Clark’s diggings, comprising 2000 acres more or less; bounded on the north by Crown Lands one mile; on the south by Crown Lands three miles; on the east by Crown Lands three miles; and on the west by Crown Lands three miles; commencing at a point in Nuggety Gully, skirting Clark’s Gully No. 1 and Sullivan’s Gully, and terminating in Deep Creek.


HOLIDAYS.

THE Provincial Government Offices will not be opened on Wednesday and Thursday, 1st and 2nd January, 1873.

ROADS.

NOTICE.—Whereas it is intended to stop up these Roads and portions of Roads which are severally described in the Schedule hereunder written and are delineated on the maps or plans mentioned and referred to in the “Roads Diversion Ordinance, 1872,” Session XXX, copies of which maps or plans, so far as they relate to the particular roads or portions of roads intended to be stopped up in the Road District specified in the Schedule, have been deposited at the Public School mentioned immediately after the description of the respective roads or portions of roads intended to be stopped up in such district; Now therefore, I, James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me in that behalf by the “Roads Diversion Ordinance, 1872,” Session No. XXX, do hereby give notice that all persons objecting to the stopping up of such roads or portions of roads or any of them, are here required to set forth a statement in writing of any well-grounded objections they may have to the stopping up of such roads or portions of roads, and to leave such statement addressed to me at my office in Dunedin, within sixty days from the first publication hereof;* otherwise such objections will not be considered by me.

  2. Beaconsfield Road District—Plans to be seen at School House, Morton.
  3. Chelsea Road District—Plans to be seen at Schoolhouse, Otepopo.
  4. Cranbourne Road District—Plans to be seen at Schoolhouse, Waikouaiti.
  5. Flagstaff Road District—Plans to be seen at the Schoolhouse, Waikarai.
  6. Goodwood Road District—Plans to be seen at Schoolhouse, Palmerston.
  7. Highcliffe Road District—Plans to be seen at Schoolhouse, Highcliffe.
  8. Kaikorai Road District—Plans to be seen at Schoolhouse, Kaikorai.
  9. Lovell’s Brook Road District—Plans to be seen at Schoolhouse, Tuapeka.
  10. Milburn Road District—Plans to be seen at Schoolhouse, Waihola Gorge.
  11. Milton Road District—Plans to be seen at Schoolhouse, Milton.
