NOTICE.—The Mornington District Road Board

hereby give notice that they have resolved to borrow five hundred pounds under the power of the "Otago Roads Ordinance 1871-72."—R. B. MARTIN, Chairman.

WEST TAIERI River District.

—The rate in the above-named District being now due, ratepayers are requested to pay the same to the undersigned, who will be in attendance to receive payments at the Post Office, Outram, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday next, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.—DAVID GRANT, Collector to the Board.

NOTICE.—The Matau Road Board

having decided to levy a highway rate of 9d in the £ on all rateable property within the District for current year, notice is hereby given that the rate roll will lie for inspection by ratepayers at the Post-Office, Inch Clutha, from this date.—C. V. BREWER, Clerk to Board. 4th Nov., 1872.

NOTICE.

—All parties allowing their cattle to stray on any road, bridle track or footpath within the Portobello Road District after the first of December prox., will be prosecuted. By order of the Road Board.—GEORGE J. CLARK, Clerk to Board. November 11, 1872.

NOTICE.—The Portobello Road Board

having decided to levy a general rate of one shilling in the pound on all rateable property within the district for the year ending June the 30th 1873, all objections to the above rate must be lodged with the Clerk on or before the 28th of November. Notice is also given that a special meeting of the Road Board will be held on Friday, the 6th of December next, at 12 o’clock, in the house of Mr William Allen, Portobello Road, for the purpose of hearing objections.—GEORGE J. NORTH-EAST VALLEY Road Board.

—It is hereby notified that on the 28th October a special district rate was made by the Board of one shilling in the Pound for the year ending July 1873, and payable on and after the 3rd December 1872. Ratepayers having objections to the valuation are required to state their objections in writing and forward to the Clerk, and the objections will be heard at a meeting of the Board, to be held on Saturday, 30th November 1872, at North-East Valley Schoolhouse at 2 p.m.—HUGH M’FADYEN, Pine Hill, Clerk to Board.

The Bay Horse, Mare and Foal, Cow & Steer, have been claimed.—GEORGE BAIN, Poundkeeper.

NOTICE.—The Bay Horse advertised in last week’s Gazette to be sold at the Oamaru Pound is claimed.—JOHN GRAY, Poundkeeper.

IMPOUNDED

IMPOUNDED on the 5th day of November, 1872, by William Palmer, Otakia, one brindled steer, branded AMc near ribs, owner unknown, for trespassing on enclosed ground, for which no damages are claimed; and in default of being released, the above steer will be sold at the Otakia Pound, on Friday, the 29th day of November, 1872, at 12 o’clock noon.—SAMUEL O’KANE, Poundkeeper of the Otakia Pound.

IMPOUNDED on the 6th day of November, 1872, by Messrs Campbell and Low, Galloway Station, 1 strawberry cow, branded like JW off rump, MP near rump; 1 roan cow, like JU off rump, MP near rump; 1 red cow, like MP near rump, MS blotched off rump; owner unknown, for trespassing on Galloway Station, for which 14s per head damages and expenses are claimed; and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound at Leaning Rock, Clyde, on Friday, the 29th day of November, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—WILLIAM WILLIAMS, Poundkeeper of the Leaning Rock (Clyde) Pound.

IMPOUNDED on the 2nd day of November, 1872, by Mr D. Stronach, Manager Ida Burn Station, 1 red and white cow, branded like LL near ribs; 1 white cow, like O or scar off back tip of near ear; 1 red and white cow, like L off rump; 1 yellow and white cow, like SI off rump; 1 roan heifer, no visible brand; 1 white steer, like JR off rump; 1 red and white cow, WW (conj.) near rump; 1 red and white steer, no visible brand; 1 red and white bull calf, no visible brand; owners unknown, for which 6s 6d per head expenses are claimed; and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound at Leaning Rock, Clyde, on Friday, the 29th day of November, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—WILLIAM WILLIAMS, Poundkeeper of the Leaning Rock (Clyde) Pound.

IMPOUNDED on the 4th day of November, 1872, by Walter Miller, Esq., one bay horse, a chestnut colour, no visible brand, slit ear; owner unknown; for trespassing on his paddock, for which 10s damages are claimed; and in default of being released, the above horse will be sold at the Public Pound at Tokomairiro, on Friday, the 29th day of November, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—JAMES GOODALL, Poundkeeper of the Tokomairiro Pound.

IMPOUNDED on the 1st day of November, 1872, by John Finn, Inspector of Nuisances, one dark brown colt, off hind fetlock white, star on forehead, no visible brand; owner unknown; for wandering in the streets; and in default of being released, the above colt will be sold at the public Pound at Balclutha, on Friday, the 29th day of November, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—GEORGE BAIN, Poundkeeper of the Balclutha Pound.

IMPOUNDED on the 30th day of October, 1872, by James Ritchie, Flag Swamp, one red and white heifer, branded like LD or JD on off rump; owner unknown; for trespassing on Cranbourne district road, for which 1s 6d damages are claimed; and in default of being released, the above heifer will be sold at the public Pound at Hawksbury, on Friday, the 29th day of November, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—AROHA VALENTINE, Poundkeeper of the Hawksbury Pound.

IMPOUNDED on the 5th day of November, 1872, by Mr Henry Little, Awamoko, for trespassing on rape, for which 1s 6d per head damages is claimed, 1 red cow, white back, branded M near rump; 1 red and white cow, back bit near ear, M near rump; 1 red heifer, white back, M near rump; 1 red and white cow, M near rump; 1 red and white cow, like NO near rump; 1 red and white calf, M near rump; 2 red and white cows, M near rump; 1 white heifer, M near rump, O off rump; 1 strawberry heifer, M near rump; 1 red steer, like spade off rump; 1 red steer, white back, M near rump; 1 red and white steer, M near rump, J-L off rump; 1 red and white calf, like M near rump; 1 red calf, M near rump; 1 roan cow, M near rump, J-L off rump; 1 red and white calf, M near rump; owners unknown.
