CORPORATION OF INVERCARGILL.—I hereby certify that the undermentioned Regulations were passed by the Town Council on the 20th day of June, 1872, and that they are in compliance with the 184th section of the "Municipal Corporations Act 1867."

A regulation made under the authority of the above section 4, subdivision 1, Part I, "for regulating the height from the ground, shape, figure, dimensions, and materials of Porticos or Verandahs."
1st. No portico or verandah shall be of less height than 10 feet in the 16 feet footpaths, and 8 feet in the 10 feet footpaths, from the kerb to the soffite of the fascia, measured in the centre of the verandah; nor higher than 10 feet, unless the permission of the Town Surveyor has been first obtained in either case.
2nd. All porticos or verandahs shall be erected in accordance with plan and specification deposited in the office of the Town Clerk.
The above regulation was passed at a meeting of the Town Council, held on the 20th day of June, 1872.

A regulation made under the authority of the above section 14, subdivision 3, Part I, "for regulating the formation, &c., of drains to be laid under any footway or channel."
A.
1st. All drains under footways shall be constructed with iron pipes, drain tiles, or box drains not exceeding three inches in diameter, and shall be laid with a fall of four inches in the whole width of the footway, the level at the discharge mouth being the level of the water channel.
2nd. The kerbing shall be neatly cut with a hole of the same size as the outside diameter of the pipe, to receive the end of the pipe, and re-laid to line and level.
3rd. The footway opened up for the reception of the pipe shall be made good with the same material of which it is constructed, to the satisfaction of the Town Surveyor.
4th. No drain under a footway, and discharging into the channel, shall be laid or used for any other purpose than for carrying off surface water, whether from roofs or yards.
B.
1st. Every drain from a house or building connected with a main or branch drain or sewer, shall be made of flanged earthenware or metal pipes, or wooden box drains of six (6) inches diameter, and placed at such level or inclination as the Town Surveyor shall direct, and shall have a sunk box at its source, the bottom of which shall be fixed at a level 12 inches below the level of the drain, and must be made in accordance with a drawing and specification deposited at the office of the Town Clerk.
The above regulation was passed at a meeting of the Town Council, held on the 20th day of June, 1872.

A regulation made under the authority of the above section 26, subdivision 4, Part I, "for regulating the formation, &c., of crossings across or over footways and channels."
1st. No crossing shall be less than 10 feet long in the direction of the street, nor of greater length, unless the permission of the Town Surveyor has been first obtained.
2nd. Any crossing laid in any street or part of a street, may be laid with hard wood sleepers, 4 inches deep and 3 inches thick, well tarred, 12 inches apart, and the crossing may be laid with planks of 4 x 2 inches in regular courses 1 inch apart.
3rd. All crossings shall be laid the full width of and level with the footway, and extending not less than 3 feet into the street, and shall have such inclination over the channel, and be set to such gradients, as the Town Surveyor may direct.
4th. No materials shall be used in any crossing which have not first been approved of by the Town Surveyor.
The above regulation was passed at a meeting of the Town Council, held on the 20th day of June, 1872.

A regulation made under the authority of the above section 45, subdivision 9, Part I, "for appointing the hours during which it shall not be lawful to drive into or through the town, or any part thereof, any cattle intended for sale, slaughter, or shipment, or travelling from one part of New Zealand, or of any other Colony, to any other place," &c., &c.
It shall not be lawful to drive into or through any part of the Town of Invercargill any loose horse, or unyoked horned cattle, whether intended for sale or slaughter, or when passing from one part of the country to another, or for any other purpose whatever, to drive along, across, into, or through any terrace, street, square, lane, court, alley, or any portion of the town, excepting between the hours of ten o’clock of the night and eight o’clock in the morning: Provided that nothing herein contained shall be held to extend to any milch cow when going to or returning from depasturing or watering, or to any horned cattle in yoke.
The above regulation was passed at a meeting of the Town Council, held on the 20th day of June, 1872.

A regulation made under the authority of the above section 4, Part VI, "for appointing the times and hours during or at which respectively any registered building or ground shall be used for the purpose for which it is registered, or shall be closed," &c., &c.
1st. Any registered building or ground may be used for the purpose for which it is registered at any time and during any hours, day or night; the license fee to be One Pound per year, and every license to be available only until the 19th day of April after the date of its issue.
The above regulation was passed at a meeting of the Town Council, held on the 20th day of June, 1872.
