CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF DUNEDIN.

Bye-law No. X.
A Bye-law of the Council of the City of Dunedin,
made under Section 186 of the "Municipal Corporations Act 1867."

A Bye-law to prevent obstruction to traffic within the City of Dunedin.

In pursuance of the powers and provisions contained in Section 186 of Part XIII of the "Municipal Corporations Act 1867," the Council of the City of Dunedin ordain as follows:— That is to say—

Any person guilty of the following offence within the said City shall, on being convicted of such offence, be liable to pay any penalty not exceeding (£5) Five Pounds.

"Any Owner or Driver of any Coach or other Conveyance used for the carriage of passengers by hire within the City—whether such Conveyance be used only within the 'prescribed space' as defined in Section 1, Subdivision 1, Part X, Schedule XIII of the 'Municipal Corporations Act 1867,' or whether such Conveyance be used to convey passengers from the City of Dunedin to any place outside the 'prescribed space,' as so defined—who shall allow such conveyance to remain stationary upon any street line or public place within the said City, other than at the proper Coach or Hackney Carriage Stand for such conveyance appointed in that behalf by the said Council, in order to take up passengers, or for any other purpose, without especial permission in writing from the Council of the City of Dunedin so to do.

"Provided that after any such Coach or other Conveyance shall have commenced a journey, it shall be lawful for the Driver thereof to stop the same for reasonable time, whenever it shall be necessary to take up or set down any passenger at any place except any such Coach or Hackney Carriage Stand as the said Council shall have appointed for other Coaches or Conveyances."

The foregoing Bye-law was made and passed by the Council of the City of Dunedin on the 8th day of May, 1872.
