PROCLAMATION

Extending the Limits of the Otago Gold Fields.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of Otago.

By VIRTUE of the authority vested in me for that purpose by an Ordinance made by the Executive Council of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers delegated to the Executive Government of the said Province in this behalf by His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand in Council, and by virtue of the authority granted by and under the “Gold Fields Act 1866” and the “Gold Fields Act Amendment Act 1867,” I do hereby constitute and appoint and proclaim and declare the area of land hereinafter described to be a Gold Field, under the provisions of the “Gold Fields Act 1866,” and the same shall henceforth form part of the Otago Gold Fields—that is to say—

All that area in the Province of Otago, containing by estimation fourteen thousand (14,000) acres, more or less, being Run number 180 on the map of the North-eastern Pastoral Districts in the said Province: bounded by a line proceeding from the north-east corner of section 34, block VIII, Moeraki Survey District in a south-westerly direction along the boundary of Hawksbury Hundred to the south-western corner of section 11, block I, Dunback Survey District; thence along the southern boundaries of the said section 11, and section 6, same block, to Moeraki Survey District; thence along the said Survey District to section 3, block I, Dunback Survey District aforesaid; thence along the northern boundaries of sections 3, 4 and 5, and the north-western boundaries of sections 5 and 8, same block and district, to the northern branch of the Waikouaiti River; thence along the south-western and north-western boundaries of Run 80 to section 32, block IV, Dunback Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western boundaries of sections 32, 35, and 37, same block and district, to M’Cormack’s Creek; thence along M’Cormack’s Creek and the southern boundary of section 35, block VIII, Moeraki Survey District, to the north-east corner of section 34, same block and district, the starting point.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, in the presence of Donald Reid and James Benn Bradshaw, Esquires, two of the members of the Executive Council of the said Province, being also members of the Provincial Council thereof, this fifth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IN Conformity to the 29th Section of the “Gold Fields Act 1866,” and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden, at Naseby, on or before the 2nd day of May, 1872.
