FOREST HILL HUNDRED

BYE-LAWS passed by Wardens of Forest Hill Hundred.

  1. That all stock, the property of unlicensed holders, be removed within 28 days of publication of this notice, and all cattle not so removed will be impounded without further notice.

  2. All stock depastured on the Crown Lands of Forest Hill Hundred to bear the registered brand of the owner.

  3. That the number of stock depastured on the Hundred (Crown Lands) be at the rate of one head to two acres of land held or occupied by any person.

  4. A return of all stock depastured on the Crown Lands of the Hundred to be furnished to the Wardens within 28 days of publication of this notice.

  5. No diseased cattle to be depastured on the Crown Lands of the Forest Hill Hundred, and any one who shall run out to graze any such diseased cattle, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £5 for every such offence.

  6. That any bull or entire horse running at large on the Crown Lands of this Hundred, on being complained of by a majority of the Wardens, shall be removed by the owner, on notice being given him to that effect, within ten days; failing which, the owner of such bull or horse will be liable to a penalty of £5.

  7. That no sheep or pigs be depastured on the Waste Lands of the Hundred, and any such stock found on the Crown Lands thereof will be impounded, or the owners of the same liable to a penalty of £5.

  8. Any person disturbing or distressing cattle on the Crown Lands of the Hundred will be liable to a penalty of £5.

  9. All or any of the Acts authorised by these Bye-laws may be enforced by any two of the Wardens, or other person duly appointed or authorised in that behalf, provided always that nothing contained in the above Bye-laws shall be construed to authorise the impounding of any sheep or cattle which are being depastured on any land, whether fenced or not, which is the property of, or is lawfully occupied by the owner of such sheep or cattle.

BYE-LAWS passed by the Wardens of New River Hundred, 16th March, 1872.

I. That no cattle of any description be depastured on the New River Hundred without a license, provided always that cattle and horses of bona fide travellers on their journey, when turned out, be not considered trespassers if not longer than two nights in the same neighbourhood.

II. That no sheep or small cattle of any kind be depastured on the New River Hundred: and that sheep travelling through the district be treated as trespassers if found without a shepherd, or if camped for the night within five miles of the previous night’s camping ground.

III. That no entire horse over twelve months old be depastured on the New River Hundred, and that no bull or bull-stag shall be allowed to run thereon after fourteen days’ notice to that effect has been given in writing to the owner thereof by the Wardens.

IV. That no person shall be allowed to depasture on the Hundred more than one head of cattle for every five acres of land in his occupation, and that all cattle depastured must be branded with the registered brand of the license-holder.

V. That all stray cattle, and cattle depastured in contravention of any of the foregoing Bye-laws, may be impounded, and that the Wardens will not be responsible for any mistakes which may arise through cattle not bearing brands according to the "Cattle Branding Ordinance."

VI. That the penalty for any breach of the foregoing Bye-laws be any sum not exceeding five pounds sterling, to be recovered in a summary way according to the 45th clause of the Land Regulations.

VII. That nothing contained in the above Bye-laws shall be held or construed to authorise the impounding of sheep or cattle, or the enforcing penalties from the owners of any sheep or cattle which are being depastured on any land, whether fenced or not, which is the property of, or is lawfully occupied by the owner of such sheep or cattle.

LOCAL ROAD DISTRICT NOTICES

Blueskin Local Road District

Notice is hereby given of the intention to make application to the General Road Board at its first meeting, to authorise the Rates in said District to be levied on an assessment of the annual value of all lands, houses, mills, buildings, and hereditaments within said district.

13th March, 1872.

Blueskin Local Road District

Notice is hereby given that the Corrected Assessment Roll of said district may be inspected at the store of Mr. Finlayson, Blueskin, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on every day not being a Sunday or public holiday, until the application to the General Road Board has been heard and decided.

Breadalbane Road Board

The Precept authorising the collection of the Highway rate for the year ending June, 1872, having been issued by the General Road Board, Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me at my house, on or before the 12th April, 1872.

Flagstaff Road Board having received a letter from the General Road Board respecting the Receipts and Expenditure of the Flagstaff Local Road Board, the same lies at my house for inspection by the ratepayers.
