NOTICE.
MALICIOUSLY SETTING FIRE TO A BRIDGE.
WHEREAS early in the morning of Tuesday, the 2nd of January last, the bridge over the Arrow River, between Big Beach, New Chum Gully and Arrowtown, the property of the Provincial Government of Otago, was maliciously set on fire and damaged to the value of about £60.
Notice is hereby given that a reward of £20 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago, to such person or persons who shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the person who maliciously set fire to the said bridge.

TE ANAKERAI LOCAL ROAD BOARD.
WHEREAS the Local Board of the Te Anakerai Road District has requested the Otago General Road Board to borrow the sum of Five Thousand Pounds under the provisions of the “Road Districts Loan Ordinance 1865,” for the purpose of constructing a light line of railway from Oamaru to the Waiareka Valley within the said district:
Notice is hereby given to the ratepayers on the assessment roll of the said district that the General Road Board will grant the request of the Te Anakerai Local Road Board at a meeting of the General Board to be held at Dunedin on the 14th day of March 1872, unless that two-thirds of the ratepayers on the assessment roll of the said district are unfavorable to the loan being contracted, as provided in Clause 2 of the said Ordinance.

WHEREAS the Local Board of the Windsor Road District has requested the Otago General Road Board to borrow the sum of Eleven Thousand Pounds under the provisions of the “Road Districts Loan Ordinance 1865,” for the purpose of constructing a light line of railway from Oamaru to the Waiareka Valley within the said district:
Notice is hereby given to the ratepayers on the assessment roll of the said district that the General Road Board will grant the request of the Windsor Local Road Board at a meeting of the General Board to be held at Dunedin on the 14th day of March 1872, unless that two-thirds of the ratepayers on the assessment roll of the said district are unfavorable to the loan being contracted, as provided in Clause 2 of the said Ordinance.

ENFIELD LOCAL ROAD BOARD.
WHEREAS the Local Board of the Enfield Road District has requested the Otago General Road Board to borrow the sum of Eight Thousand Pounds under the provisions of the “Road Districts Loan Ordinance 1865,” for the purpose of constructing a light line of railway from Oamaru to the Waireka Valley within the said district:
Notice is hereby given to the ratepayers on the assessment roll of the said district that the General Road Board will grant the request of the Enfield Local Road Board at a meeting of the General Board to be held at Dunedin on the 14th day of March 1872, unless that two-thirds of the ratepayers on the assessment roll of the said district are unfavorable to the loan being contracted, as provided in Clause 2 of the said Ordinance.
PORT MOLYNEUX ROAD DISTRICT.
PLETTING a road in the Port Molyneux Road District, parts of sections numbered respectively eleven (11) and twelve (12), block eight (8), South Molyneux Survey District, of the Province of Otago aforesaid; also, for the purpose of completing a road in the Port Molyneux Road District, part of section numbered fifteen (15), block two (2), Glenomaru Survey District, of the Province of Otago aforesaid; and for the purpose of completing a road in the Moa Flat Road District, parts of sections numbered respectively five (5) and six (6), block thirty (30), Waikoikoi Survey District, of the said Province of Otago.
And notice is hereby further given that a copy of the Bill so intended to be introduced as aforesaid may be inspected at the office of the Clerk of the Provincial Council of Otago aforesaid, on and after the thirteenth day of March, 1872.

The following clauses of the “Road Districts Loan Ordinance” are published for general information:
I. The Otago General Road Board at the request of the Local Board of any road district may borrow on the security of the yearly highway or road rates or of any special rates authorised to be levied from time to time under the provisions of the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1865” for the specific work for which a loan is required any sum which with any other sum previously borrowed and remaining unpaid for such road district shall not exceed one year’s estimated rental of property in such district.
II. It shall be lawful for the ratepayers in any road district to petition the Otago General Road Board to refuse any such request of the local board to borrow any such sum as in the last clause is mentioned, and on being satisfied that two-thirds of the ratepayers on the assessment roll of the district are unfavorable to a loan being contracted the General Road Board shall refuse to comply with the request of the local board.
