LOCAL INDUSTRIES.—Notice.—W. A. Murray, Esq., M.H.R., Glenore, has been appointed Member for Otago of the Colonial Industries Committee. Mr Murray will be happy to receive communications from persons interested in establishing New Industries, and in developing the material resources of the Province.
CONTRIBUTIONS of Books, Periodicals, or Newspapers, for the use of the patients, will be thankfully received at the Dunedin Hospital.
PROVINCIAL COMPULSORY LAND TAKING ACT 1866
NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended to introduce a Bill into the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, at its next Session, authorising the Superintendent of the Province of Otago to take compulsorily for the purpose of completing a road in the Walton Road District, parts of sections numbered respectively forty-nine and fifty (49 and 50), block seven (7), Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District, of the Province of Otago aforesaid; also for the purpose of completing a road in the Portobello Road District, part of section twenty-eight (28), block five (5), Portobello Survey District, of the Province of Otago aforesaid; also for the purpose of completing a road in the Portobello Road District, part of section twenty-four (24), block five (5), of the Portobello Survey District, of the Province of Otago aforesaid; also, for the purpose of completing a road in the Port Molyneux Road District, parts of sections eleven (11) and twelve (12), block eight (8), South Molyneux Survey District, of the Province of Otago aforesaid; also, for the purpose of completing a road in the Sandymount Road District, parts of sections four (4) and five (5), block three (3), Otago Peninsula Survey District, of the said Province of Otago; also, for the purpose of completing a road in the Port Molyneux Road District, part of section fifteen (15), block two (2), Glenomaru Survey District, of the Province of Otago aforesaid; and for the purpose of completing a road in the Kurimote Road District, parts of sections five (5) and six (6), block thirty (30), Waihola Survey District, of said Province of Otago: And notice is hereby further given that a copy of the Bill so intended to be introduced as aforesaid may be inspected at the office of the Clerk of the Provincial Council of Otago aforesaid, on and after the thirteenth day of March next.

STAMP ACT.—Managers of Cemeteries must use a £s 6d Stamp on declaration made under Section 14 of the "Cemeteries Reserves Management Ordinance 1864."
POISONS.
NOTICE.—Public attention is called to the Provisions of "The Sale of Poisons Act 1871," which comes into force on the 1st January, 1872. By section 4 of the said Act it is unlawful for any person to sell or keep open shop for retailing, dispensing, or compounding poisons in any part of New Zealand, unless such person shall first be registered. The undersigned has been appointed Registrar under the Act for the Province of Otago, exclusive of that portion comprised in the former Province of Southland.

MOSGIEL Road District.—Notice is hereby given, that a precept authorising the collection of the Highway Rate in the above-named district having been issued by the General Road Board, ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the 12th March, 1872.

NOTICE.—The Breadalbane Road Board hereby notifies its intention to apply to the General Road Board at the March meeting for authority to levy a Highway Rate of Sixpence in the £ on the valuation roll of the district. Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, on or before 1st March, 1872.

POUNDKEEPERS.—Several Poundkeepers having neglected to make their Returns as required by the Impounding Ordinance, are reminded that penalty for such neglect is £20, which will be enforced if the returns are not made forthwith.

NOTICE.—The owner of the chestnut mare Impounded by Robert Paterson on the 26th January, and sold by George Bain, poundkeeper, Balclutha, on the 16th February, advertised in the Government Gazette of 31st January, 1872, can obtain possession of her by paying the expenses, in consequence of her brand being advertised like M instead of like M conjoined.

Kitching, Esq., Moa Flat Station, one black mare, switch tail, star in forehead, shod on fore feet, collar marked, branded M near shoulder, one black filly, long tail, branded M L near shoulder, owners unknown, for trespassing on Moa Flat Station, for which ten shillings each damages is claimed, and in default of being released, the above horses will be sold at the public pound at Tapanui, on Friday, the 15th March, 1872, at 12 o’clock noon.
