Road District and Pound Notices




NOTICE.—The Ratepayers of the N.E. Harbor and Broad Bay Road Districts are hereby notified that they must pay their respective rates to me, at my residence, on or before Monday, the 12th February next, otherwise legal proceedings will be taken to recover the same.—Robert RAYNER, Collector.


PURAKANUI Road District.—The collection of an Acreage Rate of 6d. per Acre throughout this district having been authorised by the General Road Board, Ratepayers are hereby requested to pay their respective rates to me as early as possible.—Joseph MAWSON, Clerk and Collector.


NOTICE.—The North-East Harbor Road Board having resolved to levy on all the front (Beach) Sections a special Rate of One Shilling per acre, to be expended on the Beach road. Intimation is hereby given that the Rate-roll will lie at the Schoolhouse for inspection during fourteen lawful days, dating from Wednesday, the 17th inst.; and that the Commissioners will meet at the Schoolhouse, on Saturday, the 3rd of February, at 2 o’clock p.m., to hear and decide on all objections.—GEORGE P. WEST TAIERI Road Board.—Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me at the school house, West Taieri, on or before the 30th January, 1872.—GEORGE CROCKETT, Collector, West Taieri. 30th December, 1871.


HURIRIRI Road Board.—Notice is hereby given that the Precept authorising the collection of the Highway Rate for the above named district having been issued by the General Road Board, Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me at my house, on or before the 1st February, 1872.—ROBERT M’LAY, Collector.


SANDYMOUNT Local Road Board.—All Ratepayers of the said district not having paid their rates, are requested to pay them before the 1st of February next, at my house, or steps will be taken for recovery of same.—DAVID ATCHISON, Collector. January, 1872.


WAIMATUKU Road District.—Notice.—The General Road Board having issued its precept for the collection of a highway rate for the year ending 22nd June, 1872 in the above district, the rate payers of the district are required to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the 9th February, 1872.—JAMES FULLARTON, Collector. Flint’s Bush, 15th January, 1872.


NOTICE.—All accounts due to the Oamaru Local Road Board must be paid on or before February 10th, 1872.—THOS. HORNE, Clerk and Collector.


POUNDKEEPERS.—Several Poundkeepers having neglected to make their Returns as required by the Impounding Ordinance, are reminded that penalty for such neglect is £20, which will be enforced if the returns are not made forthwith.

  • By Mr John Dickson, one bay horse, star on forehead, shod on fore feet, branded like M near shoulder, owner unknown, for trespassing on his property, for which no damages are claimed; and, in default of being released, the above horse will be sold at the Public Pound, at Tapanui, on Friday, the 9th day of February, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—A. MACDONALD, Poundkeeper of the Glenkenich Pound.

  • By Mr David Paton, one dark bay colt, branded I near neck, owner unknown, for trespassing on South Bridge Road; likewise, one small strawberry heifer, branded WS off rump, for which no damages are claimed; and, in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound, at Tokomairiro, on Friday, the 9th day of February, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—JAMES GOODALL, Poundkeeper of the Public Pound, Tokomairiro.

  • A dark brown gelding, branded like a horseshoe, with a stroke on lower side, near shoulder, hind feet white, little white on nose and forehead, by J. A. Douglas, Esq., Eden Creek Station, owner unknown, for trespassing on Run, for which 20s damages are charged; and, in default of being released, the above gelding will be sold at the Public Pound, at Leaning Rock, Clyde, on Friday, the 9th day of February, 1872, at 12 o’clock noon.—WM.   • By Mr Jackson, one black mare, branded 8 near shoulder, off hind foot white; one grey cob mare, branded like NP conjoined off shoulder, chestnut mare, branded like a horseshoe near shoulder, owner unknown, for trespassing on Run, for which 20s damages are claimed; and, in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound, at Leaning Rock, Clyde, on Friday, the 9th day of February, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—WM. January 17th, 1872

  • By Thomas Shalders, Boundary Creek, one strawberry heifer, branded like G off rump; also, one red and white steer, branded like G off rump, owners unknown, for trespassing on growing crops, for which 4s each damage is claimed; and, in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound, at Oamaru, on the ninth day of February, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—JOHN GRAY, Poundkeeper of the Oamaru Pound.

  • By Special Constable Nicholls, Taieri Ferry, one bright bay mare, branded DB under saddle, near side, owner unknown, for trespassing on Main South Road, for which 2s damages are claimed; and, in default of being released, the above mare will be sold at the Public Pound, at Otokia, on Friday, the 9th day of February, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—SAMUEL O’KEEF, Poundkeeper of the Otokia Pound.

January 19th, 1872

  • By John M’Lachlan, Ranger, one strawberry bullock, branded like N on near rump, owner unknown, for trespassing on Hawksbury Bush Road, for which one shilling and sixpence damages are claimed; and, in default of being released, the above bullock will be sold at the Public Pound, West Hawksbury, on Friday, the 9th day of February, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.—THOS.
