EADOWBANK Road District.—Notice is hereby given that the above named Road Board intend to apply to the General Road Board on the first Thursday in January, 1872, for authority to levy a Highway Rate of sixpence in the pound on the annual value of all lands and buildings in said district. The Assessment roll is now ready, and may be inspected for fourteen days from date at my house.—JOHN KEEN, Clerk and Collector to Meadowbank Local Board. Palmerston, December 9th, 1871.

OTICE.—North Taieri Road Board.—Notice is hereby given, that the Precept authorising the collection of the Highway Rate for the above-named district having been issued by the General Road Board, ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the 29th December, 1871.—R. OTUPIPI Road District.—The Precept authorising the collection of Highway Rate for 1871-72 having been issued by the General Road Board, Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me at my house, on or before the 29th December, 1871.—PETER LENCH, Clerk.

BEACONSFIELD ROAD BOARD.—Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the 29th December, 1871.—ELIAS JONES, Collector. December 4th, 1871.

FINEGAND ROAD DISTRICT.—Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the 29th December, 1871.—ARCHIBALD HODGE, Collector.

WEST HARBOUR ROAD DISTRICT.—Notice—All arrears of rates now due must be paid to me within 14 days from this date.—HENRY SUTCLIFFE, Collector. Sawyer’s Bay, 13th December, 1871.

SADDLE HILL Road District.—Ratepayers are hereby requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me at my house within thirty days from date.—WILLIAM JAFFRAY, Collector. 5th December, 1871.

ADVERTISEMENT.—Notice is hereby given, that all Road Rates due in the Highcliff district for the present year, 1871-72, must be paid to me at the School-house, Highcliff, on or before Friday, the 29th inst. All accounts unsettled at that date will be recovered by process of law, without further notice.—W. HAY, Collector to Highcliff Road Board. Highcliff, December 5, 1871.

CHALFON Road Board.—Notice—Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, Bellgrove, on or before the 2nd day of January, 1872, otherwise legal proceedings will be taken for the recovery of the same.—ALEX. PURAKANUI Road District.—Notice is hereby given that a Precept has been issued for an acreage rate of sixpence per acre, and that the same is payable to me at Purakanui on or before the 12th January, 1872.—JOSEPH MAWSON, Clerk and Collector. December, 15th 1871.

HAMPDEN POUND.—The Sheep impounded in the Hampden Pound, and Gazetted in last week’s Gazette, have been released.—H. T. MURCOTT, Poundkeeper of the Hampden Pound. Hampden, 14th December, 1871.

SUPREME COURT.

NOTICE is hereby given, that a sitting of the Supreme Court, for the despatch of criminal and civil business, will be held at the Supreme Court House, Dunedin, on Tuesday, the second day of January next, at the hour of ten o’clock in the forenoon; at which time and place all persons bound by recognizances to appear as prosecutors, defendants or witnesses are required to give their attendance. Notice is hereby further given, that the civil cases will not be called on for trial until Monday, the eighth day of January, at ten o’clock in the forenoon.—EDWARD H. WARD, Registrar. WALTON TOLL BAR.

MESSRS. HEPBURN, and Co. are instructed by the trustees of the Walton Road Board, to sell by auction at their rooms, Manse street, Dunedin, on Wednesday, 3rd January, at 2 o’clock, the lease of the Walton Toll Bar for the next twelve months. This Toll Bar was let last year for £40. Payments to be made monthly in advance. 4t-20s

REWARD.—Lost—Stolen or Strayed from Tokomairiro, a stout brown Mare, branded 7 near shoulder, white star, and one white hind foot; also brown Gelding, branded D near shoulder, stripe down back. Information to H. Sprosen, Tokomairiro. 4t-10s.

PUBLIC NOTICE.—Notice is hereby given, that the Co-partnership carried on for some time past at Dunedin, in the Colony of New Zealand, by Alfred Abraham Barnett and Julius Martyn Wilkinson, under the firm of Wilkinson and Company, was this day dissolved by mutual consent. Mr. Alfred Abraham Barnett is empowered to discharge and settle all debts due to and by the said Co-partnership concern. Dated this 9th day of December, 1871.
