HALFOND ROAD BOARD.—Notice.—Ratepayers

are requested to pay the amount of their respective
rates to me, at my house, Bellgrove, on or before the
2nd day of January, 1872, otherwise legal proceedings
will be taken for the recovery of the same.—Alex.

NOTICE.—WINGATUI Road Board.—Notice is

hereby given that, the Precept authorising the
collection of the Highway Rate for the above-named
District having been issued by the General Road
Board, Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of
their respective rates to me at my house, on or before
the 29th December, 1871.—D. J. Marshall, Collector.
4th December, 1871.

CHALGROVE ROAD BOARD.—Notice.—Rate-

payers are requested to pay the amount of their
respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the
21st day of December, 1871, otherwise legal proceed-
ings will be taken for the recovery of the same.—Alex.

ber, 1871.

THE HOUKA ROAD DISTRICT.—Ratepayers

are requested to pay the amount of their
respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the

MAUNGATUA ROAD BOARD.—All unpaid

Road Rates will be sued for after the 12th
December, 1871, without further notice.—James Sim,

BROAD BAY ROAD BOARD.—Ratepayers are

requested to pay their respective rates to me, at my
house, on or before the 9th of December, 1871.

THE two head of Cattle advertised to be sold at
Tokomairiro Pound on the 8th, are claimed, like-
wise the bay Filly branded R near neck.—James Good-
alt, Poundkeeper. Tokomairiro, 4th December, 1871.

IMPOUNDED on the 28th November, 1871, by
William Bremner, Shag Valley, one red and white
cow, branded O P (stroke across O) near rump; one
red and white cow, same brand near ribs; two red
calves, same brand near rump; one red and white
heifer, K C off rump, owner unknown, for trespassing
on William Bremner’s oat paddocks, for which 4s each
damages are claimed, and in default of being released,
the above cattle will be sold at the public pound at
Palmerston, on Friday, 22nd December, 1871, at 12
O’clock noon.—J. H. Silligan, poundkeeper of the
Palmerston pound.

IMPOUNDED on the 23rd November, 1871, by
John McKay, one yellow and white cow, A near
rump; one red and white cow, X near rump, one
yellow and white cow, A near rump, one red and
white bullock, A near rump, one red and white cow, A
near rump, one red and white cow, 22 off rump, one
strawberry roan, one white heifer with red ears, one
yellow and white cow, and one red and white
bullock, branded O near rump, one red and white
bullock, branded O near rump, one red steer, white on
tail, branded like G near rump, one strawberry heifer,
no brand, owner unknown, for trespassing on Gold
fields, for which 14s per head mustering and driving
expenses is claimed; also one bay entire colt, un-
branded, at one time supposed to belong to Mr Edward
Walsh, and in default of being released, the above
cattle will be sold at the public pound at Lawrence, on
Friday, 22nd December, 1871, at 12 o’clock noon.—

Mr Oliver, farmer, Clyde, one strawberry cow,
branded like G K off rump; one red and white heifer,
branded like H with c in centre near ribs; one white
steer, branded like blotch off ribs; one strawberry cow,
branded like H with c in centre, off ribs; one red and
white steer, branded like H with c in centre, off ribs;
one white heifer, branded like H with c in centre, off
ribs; one strawberry heifer, branded like J T off ribs;
one red and white cow, branded like Z O with line in
centre near ribs, C off ribs; one red and white cow,
branded like C K off rump; one red and white cow,
branded like C C near ribs, 71 off rump; one red and
white heifer, branded like H with c in centre, off ribs;
one red and white bull, no visible brands, tail cut off,
and one red and white steer, no visible brands, owner
unknown, for trespassing on garden, and eating and
destroying fences and crops and growing trees, for
which no damages are claimed, and in default of being
released, the above cattle will be sold at the public
pound at Leaning Rock, Clyde, on Friday, the 22nd
December, 1871, at 12 o’clock noon.—William Wil-

WALTON TOLL BAR.

LANDRESS, HEPBURN, and Co. are in-
structed by the trustees of the Walton Road
Board, to sell at their rooms, Manse street,
Dunedin, on Wednesday, 3rd January, at 2 o’clock,
the lease of the Walton Toll Bar for the next twelve
months. This Toll Bar was let last year for £40.
Payments to be made monthly in advance.

Tokomairiro, a stout brown Mare, branded 7
near shoulder, white star, and one white hind foot;
also brown Gelding, branded D near shoulder, stripe
down back. Information to H. Sprosen, Tokomairiro.

WHEREAS a fire, supposed to have been caused
by the act of an incendiary, occurred on the
11th day of October last, at Invercargill, in the Pro-
vince of Otago, in the Bank of Otago and other
buildings: It is hereby notified that His Excellency
the Governor will grant a free pardon to any accom-
plice in such act, not being a principal offender, who
shall give such information as will lead to the appre-
hension and conviction of the principal offender or
offenders, or any of them, if more than one.
