SCHEDULE.
George Purton, Samuel Turner, and John Ewing, for ten acres of land situate at Smoker's Flat, St. Bathans.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
IN Conformity to the 29th Section of the "Gold Fields Act 1866," and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden at Queenstown, on or before the 15th day of December, 1871.
Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Queenstown.

BYE-LAWS OF THE "OTAGO DOCK BOARD."
WHEREAS by the Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, passed in the twenty-first Session of the said Council, number 222, the short title whereof is the "Otago Dock Trust Ordinance 1865," it was enacted amongst other things that it should be lawful for the Otago Dock Board thereby constituted, and they were thereby authorised and empowered to make all such Bye-Laws as might appear to the Board to be necessary for fully carrying out the purposes of the said Ordinance, and that the Board might in such Bye-Laws fix and determine the amount of dues to be charged on all vessels making use of the Dock thereby authorised to be constructed: And whereas it is expedient to make provision by Bye-Laws for regulating the use of the Otago Graving Dock at Port Chalmers, and to fix and determine the amount of dues to be charged on all vessels making use of the said Dock: Be it therefore ordered and directed by the Otago Dock Board by virtue of the authority in them vested in that behalf as follows:—
- All vessels using the Otago Graving Dock will be liable to Dock dues according to the following scale—
Per register ton per diem.
Vessels of 1000 tons and upwards ................................... 6d
" 900 " " under 1000 tons ........................ 6¼d
" 800 " " " 900 " ........................ 6½d
" 700 " " " 800 " ........................ 6¾d
" 600 " " " 700 " ........................ 7d
" 500 " " " 600 " ........................ 7¼d
" 400 " " " 500 " ........................ 7½d
" 300 " " " 400 " ........................ 7¾d
Under 300 tons ................................................ 8d

Double dues will be charged for the day of docking.

The Dock dues will include and cover the cost of pumping, shoring, wedges and blocking, and the cost of all labor connected with opening and closing the Dock, and all incidental labor connected with the actual operation of docking a vessel.

The Board will not undertake the repairs of a vessel; and all parties availing themselves of the use of the Dock, will be required to make their own arrangements for this service, and provide all necessary labor and material for the same.

The Board will not hold themselves responsible for any accident occurring to a vessel, whilst docking, undocking, or in dock.

The officers, crews, and workmen of any vessel, whilst in dock, will be required strictly to adhere to the regulations of the establishment.

The Captain, Master, or Pilot of a vessel, after making fast to any buoy or bollard off the mouth of the dock, for the purpose of entering, will thenceforth be required to attend to the directions of the officer of the dock-yard, superintending the docking or undocking of the vessel.

Applications for the use of the dock or machinery will be registered in order of their receipt, but the Board reserves to itself the right to determine the order of priority in special cases, such as men of war, or war steamers.

Vessels registered, and not arriving at the dock at the appointed time to enter, will be liable to the forfeiting of their turn on the register, and will also be held responsible for any expenditure that may have been incurred with a view to docking them.

Vessels will be admitted into the dock on the application of the owner or master, who will be held responsible for the payment of all dues and charges.

No vessel will be permitted to enter the dock with gunpowder or combustible matter on board.
Passed by the Otago Dock Board, this twenty-seventh day of October, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

INSPECTORS OF GOLD FIELDS DEPASTURING DISTRICTS.
APPLICATIONS will be received until the 31st December, from persons desirous of filling the office of Inspector of the Gold Fields Depasturing Districts of Tuapeka and Wakatipu respectively.
The District of Tuapeka embraces the Districts of Waitahuna, Teviot and Switzers; and the District of Wakatipu embraces that of Clyde.
The salary attached to the office of Inspector is at the rate of £150 per annum.
