SIGNAL HILL ROAD DISTRICT.—Notice.—

The Precept authorising the collection of the Highway Rate in the above district, for the year ending June, 1872, having been issued by the General Road Board, Ratepayers are hereby requested to pay their respective Rates to me, at my house, Signal Hill, in one payment, on or before the 15th day of November, 1871.—Hugh Brown, Collector.

CHALGROVE ROAD BOARD.—Notice is hereby given,

that the Precept authorising the collection of the Highway Rate in the above named district having been issued by the General Road Board, Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, Bellgrove, on or before the 21st of November, 1871.—Alex. Young, clerk and collector.

CORRECTED NOTICE.

PORTOBELLO ROAD BOARD.—The Precept

authorising the collection of the Highway Rate for the Portobello district for the year 1871-72, having been issued, Ratepayers are requested to pay their respective rates to meet at my house, within thirty days from this date. But to convenience Ratepayers at a distance I will attend at the school-house, Portobello, on Saturday, the 25th November, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.—Wm. Dickson, clerk to the Board, Portobello, October 26th, 1771.

FLAGSTAFF ROAD DISTRICT.—Notice is hereby given, that a Precept authorising the collection of the Highway Rate in the above named district having been issued by the General Road Board, Ratepayers are requested to pay the amount of their respective rates to me, at my house, on or before the 21st November, 1871.—D. McQuilkan, clerk and collector to local Board.

BRIGHTON ROAD BOARD.—The Road Board intends to apply at the December sitting of the General Road Board, for authority to levy a Highway Rate of one shilling in the pound on the annual value of all rateable property in said district, and the rate roll may be inspected for 14 days from this date at the house of Mr. J. B. Blair.—Petra Lerich, clerk, Okotia, 26th October, 1871.

CLYDEVALE ROAD BOARD hereby notify their intention to apply at the General Road Board at the November sitting for authority to levy a Highway Rate of one shilling in the pound on the annual value of lands and houses in the district, for the current year.

GREEN ISLAND ROAD BOARD.—The Precept for the collection of the Highway Rate for 1871-72, having been issued, Ratepayers are requested to pay to Andrew Mason, at his house, their respective rates, in one payment, on or before the 10th November. A. Mason has authorised the clerk of the Board to collect rates also.—Thos. C. Buet, clerk to the Board.

IMPOUNDED

on the 31st of October, 1871, by Messrs Boys Brothers, one chestnut horse branded S near shoulder, white star on forehead, owner unknown, for trespassing on Falls Station, for which 10s driving expenses are claimed, and in default of being released, the above horse will be sold at the public pound at Hayes’ Lake, on Friday, the 24th of November, 1871, at 12 o’clock noon.—W. T. Marshall, poundkeeper of the Shotover pound, Wakatipu district.

IMPOUNDED

on the 28th day of October, 1871, by the Police, one white cow and one white steer, no brands visible, owner unknown, for trespassing on the streets of Balclutha, for which no damages are claimed; and, in default of being released, the above steer will be sold at the Public Pound, at Balclutha, on the 24th day of November, 1871, at 12 o’clock noon.—George Bain, Poundkeeper of the Balclutha Pound.

LOST

on the night of the 30th September, 1871, near Arthur’s Point bridge, Shotover, a deposit receipt on the bank of New Zealand, Arrow, No. 11473 (10—18) for twenty pounds stg. (£20), dated 26th May, 1871.

To Mr Ross, or whom it may concern.—Take notice that I desire the division fence between sections 28 and 37, block VIII, Maungatua Township, Maungatua, be made immediately.

SCHEDULE A.

THE undersigned James Smith, hereby make application to register the Alexandra Quartz Mining Company. Registered under the provisions of “The Mining Companies’ Limited Liability Act, 1865,” and “The Mining Companies’ Limited Liability Act Amendment Act, 1869,” and I do solemnly and sincerely declare that the following statement is to the best of my belief and knowledge, true in every particular, namely:—

  1. The name and style of the Company is the Alexandra Quartz Mining Company, Registered.
  2. The place of operations is at Table Hill, Waitahuna district.
  3. The nominal capital of the Company is £450 in nine shares of £50 each.
  4. The amount already paid up is £90, being £10 per share.
  5. The name of the manager is James Smith.
  6. The office of the Company is at the Council Chambers, Tokomairiro.
  7. The names and several residences of the shareholders, and the number of shares held by each at this date are as follows:—
