NOTICES

One (1) acre for each holder of a miner’s right, provided that no block claim shall comprise more than six acres altogether.

Given under my hand, at Macraes, this 12th day of October, 1871.

SCHEDULE

All that portion of the Otago Gold Field situated at Macraes Flat, and comprised within the following boundaries, viz., commencing at Trig. Station B; thence by the chipped base line to the south-west corner of the block declared under Regulation IV on August 25th, 1870; thence by the south-western boundary of the said block to the main Dunedin Road; thence by the said road in a westerly direction to the crossing of the New Station wire fence; and thence by a direct line to the starting point.


NOTICE

In conformity with Section 5 of Regulation IV of the Rules and Regulations of the Otago Gold Field.

WHEREAS I have received sufficient proof that the portion of the Otago Gold Field described in the subjoined Schedule, has been fairly tested and is, either in whole or in part, of an inferior character as regards the value of its gold deposits: Now therefore, I hereby give notice that the same may be occupied by holders of Miners Rights in claims of the undernentioned size:— One (1) acre for each holder of a Miner’s Right, provided that no block claim shall exceed six (6) acres.

Given under my hand, at Roxburgh, in the Province of Otago, this 23rd day of October, 1871.

SCHEDULE

All that portion of the Otago Gold Field comprised within the following boundaries (that is to say)—The East and West banks of the Clutha River, two hundred (200) yards back from either bank, commencing at the Benger Burn, and terminating at the Talla Burn, Mount Benger District.


GENERAL ROAD BOARD

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board, which should be held on Thursday, the 2nd November, is unavoidably postponed until Thursday the 16th November.

MARKET AND LABOR

NOTICE to Employers of Labor and Persons who wish to obtain Employment.— A Register is kept at each of the Police Stations in the Province, in which employers of labor are requested to enter their names when wanting to engage servants, giving particulars as to the class they wish to employ, the period for which they wish to engage them, and the rate of wages they propose to pay.

The members of the Police force in charge of the Stations have been instructed to afford every possible information on the subject to men wishing to obtain employment, &c.

AMENDED NOTICE

TENDERS will be received at the Government Offices, until noon of Tuesday, 7th November 1871, for the following Services and Supplies for the Provincial Government of Otago, for the Year 1872:— the Bread for 6 months only.

  • Cleaning Chimneys
  • Funerals – specification altered
  • Mixed Firewood; must be cut at least six months: Tenderer to state the kinds of wood he will mix, and about what quantities of each he will supply
  • Provindial Coal – Green Island
    • Do. Slip Flat
  • English, Scotch and Newcastle, do
  • Ironmongery
  • Kerosene, Neatsfoot, and Colza Oil
  • Castor Oil
  • Plumber’s Material; Material and Work
  • Paints, Colors and Glazing
  • Powder and Fuse
  • Rations and Medical Comforts for Dunedin Gaol
  • Milk for Hospital and Lunatic Asylum, Dunedin
  • Do for Industrial School
  • Rations and Medical Comforts (exclusive of Bread), for Hospital, Lunatic Asylum, and Immigration Depot
  • Bread for Hospital and Lunatic Asylum, for 6 months. A deposit of £20 must be lodged with the tender, to be forfeited if tender is not taken up
  • Bread for Industrial School and Immigration Depot
  • Rations – Meat for Hospital, Lunatic Asylum, and Immigration Depot
  • Meat for Industrial School
  • Forage
  • Potatoes
  • Printing
  • Stationery
  • Sawn Timber

The names of the Sureties must be lodged with the Tender, and it must be shown at the same time that the Sureties consent.

Schedules for Tendering may be had from the Government Storekeeper, after 26th October 1871.

Accounts to be rendered on the 25th of each month, and all items against a Department to be put into one account.


TO FOUNDERS, &c.

TENDERS, at per ton weight, will be received at the Government Offices, Dunedin, until noon of Friday, the 3rd November, 1871, for the purchase of about twelve tons broken railway chairs, one ton old waggon springs, delivered at Dunedin Jetty.

The Government will not be bound to accept the highest or any offer.


CORSTORPHINE ROAD BOARD

Wanted tenders for making roads, and supplying 350 yards of metal in the above district. Specifications to be seen, and tenders to be lodged with the undersigned, at his residence, up to 2 p.m. on Monday the 13th instant.
