✨ Road Board Notices and Mining Company Registrations
THE ASHLEY DOWN ROAD BOARD hereby notifies its intention to apply to the General Board for authority to levy a Highway Rate of sixpence per pound of annual value on all lands, houses, mills, buildings, &c., in the district. The amended Assessment Roll may be inspected for fourteen days from this date, at the Schoolhouse, Waivera.—J. B. Crispoholm, Clerk to the Board, Sept. 17, 1871.
ALLDAY.—Ratepayers are hereby informed that the Highway Rate for current year is payable on or before the 17th day of October next, at the house of the undersigned.—Alex. Pirie, Collector, Otepopo, September 19th, 1871.
THE KURIMOTO LOCAL ROAD BOARD hereby notify their intention of applying to the General Board, at their November meeting, for permission to levy a Rate of fourpence per acre on all rateable property in the district, for the year ending June, 1872. The Assessment Roll will be open for inspection at the Schoolhouse, for fourteen days from date.—John Neame, Clerk to the Board, September 27th, 1871.
PINE HILL ROAD BOARD invite Tenders to Clear and Form 20 Chains of Road Formation in said district. Specifications &c., may be seen at my house, North-east Valley, and Tenders received on and up to the 20th of October, 1871.—Henry Duncan, Clerk to Board. 25th September, 1871.
IMPOUNDED on the 22nd September, 1871, one roan cow, indistinct brand or mark on off thigh, one white calf, no visible brand, by John M‘Laughlin, Hawksbury, owner unknown, for trespassing on Hawksbury Bush Road District, for which 1s 6d damages is claimed, and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound at Hawksbury, on Friday, the 18th October, 1871, at twelve o’clock noon.—Arch. Valentine, Poundkeeper of the Hawksbury Pound.
PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given, that unless the Ratepayers of Pine Hill and North-east Valley Road Districts pay to me, at my house, North-east Valley, on or before the 29th instant, the amount of their respective Rates, legal proceedings will be taken to recover the same.—Henry Duncan, Clerk and Collector to the above Road Boards. 25th September, 1871.
TO Messrs. Gillies & Street (agents for Captain Stewart), or whom it may concern: Take notice, that I desire the boundary fence between sections 9 and 7, block XVIII, West Clutha, be made immediately.—Thomas Tait. Sept. 8th, 1871.
WAREPA ROAD BOARD.—We, the undersigned, appointed by the General Road Board to enquire and report upon the management of affairs in the Warepa Road District, hereby request all Ratepayers in the aforementioned district (who have any complaints to make) to meet us at the Schoolhouse Warepa, on Monday, the 9th day of October, at 11 o’clock, a.m.—David Wallace. Wm. Dallas.
NOTICE.—We hereby give notice that after this date, the owners of any Cattle or Horse found trespassing on Sections 11 and 14, Block VI, Dunedin and East Taieri, will be prosecuted as the law directs.—Cameron & Smith. White Swamp, 27th September, 1871. 2s. 6d.
THE UNDERSIGNED, James Marshall, hereby make application to register the Star of the East Quartz Mining Company, Registered, under the provisions of the “Mining Companies Limited Liability Act, 1865,” and the amended Act, 1870; and I do sincerely and solemnly declare that the following statement is, to the best of my belief and knowledge, true in every particular:—
The style of the Company is the “Star of the East Quartz Mining Company, Registered.”
The place of operations is on the Carrick range.
The nominal capital of the Company is twelve thousand pounds, in twelve hundred shares of ten pounds each.
The amount already paid up is six thousand pounds.
The name of the manager is James Marshall.
The office of the Company is at Mr. Marshall’s, Bannockburn.
The names in full, and several residences of the shareholders, and the number of shares held by each at this date, are as follows:—
