PROCLAMATION OF LICENSING DISTRICTS UNDER THE “LICENSING ORDINANCES (SOUTHLAND) REPEAL ORDINANCE 1870.”

WHEREAS by the Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago passed in the Twenty-eighth Session thereof No. 334 and shortly intituled the “Licensing Ordinances (Southland) Repeal Ordinance 1870” the Licensing Ordinance heretofore in force in that part of the Province of Otago which before the coming into operation of the “Otago and Southland Union Act 1870” was included in the Province of Southland were repealed and the provisions of the several Licensing Ordinances of the Province of Otago specified in the second Schedule to the said Ordinance were extended to that part of the said Province formerly included in the Province of Southland: And whereas it is expedient to divide that part of the Province of Otago which before the coming into operation of the “Otago and Southland Union Act 1870” was included in the Province of Southland into Licensing Districts:
Now therefore I James Macandrew Superintendent of the Province of Otago by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me in this behalf do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the day of the date hereof and until further notice there shall be within that part of the Province of Otago which before the coming into operation of the “Otago and Southland Union Act 1870” was included in the Province of Southland five Licensing Districts to be called respectively as follows:—
Invercargill Licensing District.
Riverton Licensing District.
Waiau Licensing District.
Taungatura Licensing District.
Mataura Licensing District.
And I do hereby proclaim and declare that the said several Districts shall be respectively bounded and defined in manner following that is to say:—
Invercargill Licensing District.
Shall for the purposes of the “Licensing Ordinance 1865” comprise all that area bounded on the north by the northern boundaries of the Oreti Winton and Forest Hill Hundreds on the east by the western boundary of the Waimumu Hundred then again on the north by the Waimumu Hundred again towards the east by a line drawn from a point two miles west of the Mataura River on the south boundary of the Waimumu Hundred to the north-west corner of the Mataura Hundred and by the west and south boundaries of Mataura Hundred and by the Mataura River on the south by Foveaux Strait and on the west by the Waimatuka River and a line drawn due north from the north-west corner of the New River Hundred to the northern boundary of the Oreti Hundred.
Riverton Licensing District.
Shall for the purposes of the “Licensing Ordinance 1865” comprise all that area bounded on the north by the north boundary of the Aparima Hundred and on the east by the Invercargill District before described on the south by Foveaux Strait on the west by the Waiau River again on the north by a line running due east to the summit of Ferndunlaw Hill and again on the west by the west boundary of Aparima Hundred.
Waiau Licensing District.
Shall for the purposes of the “Licensing Ordinance 1865” comprise all that area bounded towards the north-east by the Waiau River from the most northern corner of Run No. 413 to its junction with the Waimea Creek thence by that creek to its source thence by a...
