NOTE.—Those holdings only which were under grain crops (wheat, oats, and barley), grass hay, and potatoes, are included in the above account. The number of holdings is, therefore, much less than in the account for 1870, which included lands under pasture, and all other crops. No fair comparison can, therefore, be instituted between the number of holdings returned for 1871 and those returned for 1870.
