It is requested that in future, the Clerks to the various Local Road Boards will cause to be inserted in the copy of the Assessment Roll they send in to this Office for the sanction of the General Road Board, in the column headed “Description of property rated,” the Sections and Blocks of such properties.

CLUTHA COAL FIELD.

TENDERS will be received at the Provincial Government Offices, Dunedin, until noon of Tuesday, the 13th December, 1870, from parties willing to lease the Clutha Coal Fields, and plant connected therewith, for the term of seven years. Tenders to state the amount of rent per annum, payable half-yearly in advance.

A list of the plant can be seen at the Office of the Secretary for Land and Works, Dunedin, and at the Police Station, Balclutha.

For further information apply at the Office of the Secretary for Land and Works.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

PROVINCIAL COUNCIL ORDINANCES.
Session XXVII, 1870.

With the exception of the “Road Boards Ordinance 1870,” the whole of the Ordinances passed by the Provincial Council, during Session XXVII, have become law. A Bill to validate the “Road Boards Ordinance” was passed by the House of Representatives, but thrown out by the Legislative Council. The Ordinance has since been disallowed by His Excellency the Governor.

IMMIGRANTS’ PASSAGE MONEY.—All Immigrants in arrears are requested to pay the same forthwith, otherwise expenses will be incurred. Lists containing the names of all persons in arrears have been placed in the hands of the police.

IMMIGRATION TO OTAGO.—Conditions:—£6 for each adult, and the half of that sum for persons between the ages of 1 and 12, must be paid in Otago before the names are sent home to the Agent in Edinburgh.

If the parties remain three years in Otago, no further payment will require to be made. If they do not remain that time, another payment of £8 10s. must be made before leaving Otago.

All Immigrants must be approved by the Agents for the Province, and may sail either from London or Glasgow.

A Schedule, &c., may be had on application.

TENDERS will be received at the Government Offices, until noon of Friday, 19th November, 1869, for the following services for Provincial Government, for the year 1871:

  • Milk for Hospital and Lunatic Asylum.
  • Rations and Medical Comforts (exclusive of Bread), for Hospital, Lunatic Asylum, and Immigration Depot.
  • Bread for Hospital and Lunatic Asylum.
  • Do. for Industrial School and Immigration Depot.
  • Rations—Meat for Hospital, Lunatic Asylum, and Immigration Depot.
  • Meat for Industrial School.
  • Printing.
  • Stationery.

Schedules for Tendering may be had from the Government Storekeeper.

HIGHCLIFF.—Tenders wanted for Breaking and Spreading about 210 cubic yards of Road Metal on No. 1 Road.

Also, about 235 yards on No. 2 Road.

And also, for Clearing Bush and Forming a ten feet road; at per lineal chain.

The local Inspectors will meet intending contractors at the Schoolhouse, on Saturday, 5th Nov., at 1 o’clock p.m., to point out the works.

MILBURN ROAD BOARD.—Tenders will be received up to Monday, 7th November, at 6 p.m., by Mr. James Blues, Chairman to the Board, for a large quantity of works, consisting of Road Formation, Ditching, and Stone Culverts, with about 1500 cubic yards of metal.

The ground will be shown for the West Ward Works on Tuesday, 1st Nov., commencing at Mr. James Blue’s, at 10 a.m., and for the East Ward on the same day at 3 p.m., commencing at Mr. James M’Grouther’s.

The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

OSLYN ROAD BOARD.—Tenders are invited for metalling Ross, Hart, William and James Streets, and for forming and metalling Footpaths.

Specifications can be seen at my house between the hours of 4 and 5 p.m. Tenders to be lodged with the undersigned, on or before the 9th of November next.

The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

CORSTORPHINE ROAD BOARD.—Tenders will be received by the undersigned up to noon on the 10th Nov. prox., for the Formation of Roads in the above district.

Also, Supplying about 500 yards of metal.
