PROCLAMATION:

Varying the Boundaries of the Road District of Te Houka.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled the “Otago Roads Ordinance, 1865,” it is amongst other things enacted that, until otherwise provided, pursuant to the provisions of the said Ordinance, there should be sixty-one districts, which should be named as specified in the Schedule to the said Ordinance annexed, marked B; and it is also by the said Ordinance provided, that it should be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the Otago General Road Board, from time to time, by proclamation in the Gazette, to alter, vary, diminish, or enlarge the boundaries of any or all of such districts, and to increase the number of districts by forming and naming new districts:

And whereas by a proclamation in the Government Gazette of the Province of Otago, No. 433, given under the hand of Bryan Cecil Haggitt, Esquire, Deputy-Superintendent for the then time being of the Province of Otago, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, and bearing date the thirteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, a new road district was formed under the provisions of the said Ordinance, and named the Te Houka Road District, and the boundaries of the said district were thereby defined.

And whereas by another proclamation in the Government Gazette of the Province of Otago, No. 672, given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, and bearing date the 7th day of June, 1870, it was proclaimed and declared that the boundaries of the said Te Houka District should from the date thereof be altered, and that thenceforth they should be as described in the Schedule thereto:

And whereas it is expedient to alter and vary the boundaries of the said Te Houka Road District, as defined in the last-mentioned proclamation:

Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of the Otago General Road Board, do hereby proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the said Te Houka Road District shall, from the date hereof, be altered; and that the boundaries of the said district shall henceforth be as described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

Te Houka Road District.

All that area in the Province of Otago, bounded towards the north-east by the Clutha River, from the confluence of the Waiwera stream to section seven, block thirty-five, Clutha District; towards the south-east and south by section seven aforesaid, and the main south road, to the Waiwera stream; and towards the west by the Waiwera stream to the Clutha river.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, this twenty-eighth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

PROCLAMATION

Varying the boundaries of the Finegand Road District.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled “The Otago Roads Ordinance, 1865,” it is amongst other things enacted that, until otherwise provided, pursuant to the provisions of the said Ordinance, there should be sixty-one districts, which should be named as specified in the Schedule to the said Ordinance annexed, marked B: And it is also by the said Ordinance provided that it should be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the Otago General Road Board, from time to time by proclamation in the Gazette to alter, vary, diminish or enlarge the boundaries of any or all of such districts: And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries of the Finegand Road District in manner and as described in the Schedule hereto: Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of the Otago General Road Board, do hereby proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the said Finegand Road District shall from the day of the date hereof be altered, and that the boundaries of the said District shall henceforth be as described in the schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

Finegand Road District.

All that area in the Province of Otago, bounded on the north by section eight, block thirty-five, Clutha district, and the Main South Road; toward the west by the Balclutha and Port Molyneux road; towards the south and west by the Waitapeka stream; and towards the east by the Koau branch of the Clutha river and section eight aforesaid.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, this twenty-eighth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

DUARD ROAD DISTRICT.—Election of Local Board of Road Trustees: In pursuance of the “Otago Roads Ordinance, 1865,” and the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1865 Extension and Amendment Ordinance,” I hereby convene a meeting of the persons liable to be rated for roads in the above-named district, such meeting to be held at the Station of the Hon. John M’Lean within the said district, on Saturday, 19th November, 1870, at noon, for the purpose of electing a Local Board of Road Trustees to serve for the year ending June, 1871.

NOTE.—The attention of ratepayers is specially directed to the 9th, 10th, and 11th Clauses of the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1865” for mode of procedure at electoral meetings.

Dunedin, 17th October, 1870.

MOUNT CARGILL DISTRICT.—Election of Local Board of Road Trustees:—In pursuance of the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1865,” and the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1865 Extension and Amendment Ordinance,” I hereby convene a meeting of the persons liable to be rated for roads in the above-named district, such meeting to be held at the Junction Hotel, Port Chalmers and Blueskin Road, within the said district, on Saturday, 19th November, 1870, at noon, for the purpose of electing a Local Board of Road Trustees to serve for the year ending June, 1871.

NOTE.—The attention of ratepayers is specially directed to the 9th, 10th, and 11th Clauses of the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1865” for mode of procedure at electoral meetings.

Dunedin, 17th October, 1870.

COASTAL STEAM SERVICE.—The Provincial Government will receive tenders on or before noon of Monday the 14th November, 1870, for a Fort-nightly Steam Service between Dunedin and Riverton, calling at Port Molyneux, Catlin’s River, Waikawa, Toetoes and Bluff; same Steamer to proceed to Preservation Inlet and Martin’s Bay, once in every Three Months.
