May be had of Provincial Government Storekeeper, Dunedin. The usual allowance to the Trade when twelve are taken. These are the prices in Dunedin. If mailed the postage must be paid by purchaser.

Dunedin; at Mr. Livingston’s, bookseller, Princes street; and at the agencies of Mr. Livingston, Oamaru; Mr. Smith, Waikouaiti; Mr. Stoddart, Hampden; Messrs. B. Hibbard and Co., Tokomairiro; and at the Survey Offices at Queenstown, Clyde, Naseby, and Lawrence, so far as relates to the Districts, &c., adjacent to them; but any map not on hand at any of the Survey Offices may be ordered through them.

All the surveyed Towns and Blocks have been lithographed—price 1s. each. The Districts now lithographed on a scale of 80 chains to an inch are Awamoko, Papakaio, Oamaru, Kauroo, Otepopo, and Moeraki—price 5s. each.

ABSTRACT FROM PREVIOUS GAZETTES

of Impounding Notices:—

13th October, Friday, noon, a mare will be sold at the Hawksbury Pound.

14th October, Friday, noon, a bay horse will be sold at Tokomairiro Pound.

21st October, Friday noon, a horse will be sold at South Dunedin Pound.

21st October, Friday noon, a filly and three horses will be sold at Hawksbury Pound.

LAND open for sale on 18th May, 1870.—See Gazette published 19th May, 1870, which may be had at the various Survey and Police Stations throughout the Province, and at the Land Office, Dunedin.

NOTICE.—Tenders will be received by the Broad Bay Road Board, for the clearing and reforming of the Track along the Beach. Specifications can be seen at the house of Mr. Raynbird; also at the house of Mr. Allan, Portobello road, till 12 noon, 29th instant. Mr. Raynbird will show intending contractors the work between 10 and 11 o’clock on that date.

EAST TAIERI ROAD DISTRICT.—Tenders will be received by Mr. James Aitkin, until 3rd November, for forming and metalling 60 chains, more or less, of road line in the above district. Also, for laying down 800 yards, more or less, of sustenance metal on roads already formed. The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted. GEORGE ROBERTSON, Clerk to Board. 10th October, 1870.

CATLIN’S DISTRICT, 3000 ACRES, MORE OR LESS.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, THAT Sections 1 to 22, Block I
Sections 1 to 7, Block II
Sections 1 to 15, Block IV,
Catlin’s District, on the Owake River, have now been Surveyed, and will be open for application as Surveyed Land, on Monday, the 24th October, 1870, at £1 per acre. The Sections contain about 50 acres each of good agricultural Land.

Tuesday, 1st November, at Noon.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the allotments of rural land, with the following buildings and improvements thereon, will be offered for sale by auction, as land of special value, in the Land Office, Dunedin, on Tuesday, the 1st day of November next, at noon.

Block 3, Kuriwao District.

Section 2, containing 4a. 3r. 11p., upset price £300
1, „ 26a. 1r. 24p. „ £60

The hotel, occupied by Mr. Pollock, is situated on section 2, and consists of bar, dining room, parlor, private room, four bedrooms on the ground-floor, and eight on the upper-floor. The out-buildings connected with the hotel consist of 9-stalled stable, cooking-house, blacksmith’s shop, barn, and stockyard.

Section 1 is partly fenced, and is now used as an accommodation paddock attached to the hotel.

Terms, 10 per cent. cash, balance within a month.

SIR,—On receipt of your Honor’s instructions to furnish information re entrance to Otago Harbor, I at once proceeded to take soundings thereat, assisted by Mr Pilot Loudon, and others, and now have the honor to report thereon as follows:—

The least water at present in the north or main channel is 22 feet at low water spring tides, same as in my report of May last.
