NOTICE

Notice is hereby given, that John Bell and Matthew Smith having failed to execute the Mining Lease prepared in their favor for Section 12, Mid Wakatipu, the Government have cancelled the same, and the land is now open for occupation by holders of Miners’ Rights.

Notice is hereby given, that the Government have cancelled the Occupation Certificate issued under the Agricultural Lease Regulations in favor of Charles Thomson and Niel Andersen Nass, for Section 2 Block X, Waitahuna East, and the Agricultural Leases issued in favor of the undermentioned:

James and William Cameron, Section 2, Block X, Waitahuna West.

Edward Herbert and Others, Section 3, Crookston.

Chas. Thomson and Neil Andersen Nass, Section 36, Block X, Waitahuna East.

And the land is now open for application under the Agricultural Lease Regulations.

ELECTION OF LOCAL BOARDS ROAD TRUSTEES.

Ratepayers in the undermentioned Road Districts having failed to elect a Local Board to serve for the year ending June, 1871, Notice is hereby given, that a meeting is appointed to be held for the purpose of electing five duly qualified persons to serve as a Local Board, as under:

Waitahuna West.—Saturday, 22nd October, 1870, at the house of Mr. John Buchannan, at noon.

MARTIN’S BAY.

Notice is hereby given, that in the event of a sufficient number of bona fide Settlers desiring to proceed to Martin’s Bay, arrangements will be made for a direct steamer at an early date.

Apply immediately to the Secretary to the Superintendent, Dunedin.

21st September, 1870.


IMMIGRANTS’ PASSAGE MONEY.

All Immigrants in arrears are requested to pay the same forthwith, otherwise expenses will be incurred. Lists containing the names of all persons in arrears have been placed in the hands of the police.

IMMIGRATION TO OTAGO.

Conditions—£8 for each adult, and the half of that sum for persons between the ages of 1 and 12, must be paid in Otago before the names are sent home to the Agent in Edinburgh.

If the parties remain three years in Otago, no further payment will require to be made. If they do not remain that time, another payment of £8 10s. must be made before leaving Otago.

All Immigrants must be approved by the Agents for the Province at Edinburgh.

Schedule, &c., may be had on application.

PROTECTION OF ANIMALS ACT.

The period during which native game may be hunted, shot, taken or killed in this Province, having expired on the 31st day of August last, it is notified, for general information, that any person or persons found offending against the provisions of the Act, will be prosecuted.
