FIRE AT LAKE TUAKITOTO.—£50 REWARD.

WHEREAS a Fire occurred at Lake Tuakitoto on the night of the 17th May, 1870, by which five stacks of corn, the property of John Esber, of the value of about one hundred pounds were destroyed;
And whereas there is reason to believe that the said fire was the act of an incendiary; notice is hereby given, that a reward of £50 will be paid by the Otago Provincial Government for such information as will lead to the conviction of the person who caused the said fire.

BASE COPPER COIN.

THE following Section (being 15) of “The Coinage Offences Act 1867,” is published for general information:—

“15. Whosoever shall tender utter or put off any false or counterfeit coin resembling or apparently intended to resemble or pass for any of the Queen’s current copper coin knowing the same to be false or counterfeit or shall have in his custody or possession three or more pieces of false or counterfeit coin resembling or apparently intended to resemble or pass for any of the Queen’s current copper coin knowing the same to be false or counterfeit and with intent to utter or put off the same or any of them shall be guilty of a misdemeanour and being convicted thereof shall be liable at the discretion of the court to be imprisoned for any term not exceeding one year with or without hard labor and with or without solitary confinement.”

ELECTION OF ROAD BOARDS.—Notice is hereby given that in pursuance of the “Otago Roads Ordinance, 1865,” the annual meetings of persons liable to be rated are hereby appointed to be held at the times and places within the several Districts aftermentioned, for the purpose of electing qualified persons to serve as members of the several Local Boards for the ensuing year.
