NOTICE.—Broad Bay District.—Parties in arrear of Road Rates, will please pay their respective amounts to me, at my house, within 21 days from this date, otherwise legal proceedings will be taken to recover the same.—JAMES SEATON, Clerk and Collector. 12th April, 1870.
IMPOUNDED on the 17th day of March, 1870, by Captain M’Kenzie, Glenkenich Station, one brown mare, branded C R near shoulder, and like S J off back; owner unknown; for trespassing on Glenkenich Station, for which no damage is claimed; and, in default of being released, the above mare will be sold at the Public Pound at Tapanui, on Friday, the 29th day of April, 1870, at 12 o’clock noon.—A. M’GREGOR, Poundkeeper of the Glenkenich Pound.
IMPOUNDED on the 2nd day of April, 1870, by Mounted Constable Cutliffe, West Taieri: one Red Cow, branded like 3¢< near rump, and like horseshoe off rump; one Red Calf, progeny of the above cow; owners unknown; for trespassing on public road, East Taieri, for which sixpence per head is claimed for driving to the pound; and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound at West Taieri, on Friday, the 29th day of April, 1870, at 12 o’clock noon.—MICHAEL TYNAN, Poundkeeper of the West Taieri Pound.
IMPOUNDED on the 11th day of April, 1870, by William Shand, Green Island: one Chestnut Gelding, no brand, star on forehead, white feet, two white marks off side; owner unknown; for trespassing on a paddock in Green Island, for which ten shillings damages are claimed; and in default of being released, the above gelding will be sold at the Public Pound, at Caversham, on Friday, the 6th day of May, 1870 at 12 o’clock noon.—JOHN ANDERSON, Poundkeeper of the Caversham Pound.

SCALE of progression of charge for Postage on Letters posted in New Zealand for delivery within the Colony, or in Great Britain, or any British Colony or possession:—
Not exceeding half an ounce, one rate.
Exceeding half an ounce but not exceeding one ounce, two rates.
Exceeding one ounce but not exceeding one ounce and a half, three rates.
And so on for every additional half-ounce, or fraction of half an ounce, one rate.
