PROCLAMATION

Varying and altering the existing Licensing Districts of Queenstown, Clyde, Cromwell, and St. Bathan’s, and defining the boundaries of the new Licensing Districts of Queenstown, St. Bathan’s, Clyde, Black’s, and Cromwell.

WHEREAS it is expedient to vary and alter the Licensing District of Queenstown, in the Province of Otago, and the boundaries thereof, as proclaimed in the Government Gazette of the Province of Otago, No. 496, on the twenty-first day of August, 1867; and also to vary and alter the Licensing Districts of St. Bathan’s, Clyde, and Cromwell, and the boundaries thereof respectively, as proclaimed in the said Government Gazette, No. 465, on the 13th day of February, 1867, and to define new districts in lieu thereof: Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me under the eleventh Section of the Licensing Ordinance 1865, and of every other power in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the day of the date hereof the said Licensing Districts of Queenstown, St. Bathan’s, Clyde, and Cromwell, and the boundaries thereof respectively, as proclaimed as aforesaid, shall be varied and altered, and that from and after the day of the date hereof, and until further notice, there shall be five Licensing Districts constituted in lieu thereof, to be called respectively as follows —

Queenstown Licensing District;
St. Bathan’s Licensing District;
Clyde Licensing District;
Black’s Licensing District;
Cromwell Licensing District;

and I do hereby further proclaim and declare that the said Licensing Districts respectively shall be bounded and defined in manner following (that is to say) —

Queenstown Licensing District shall, for the purposes of the Licensing Ordinance 1865, comprise the townships of Kingston, Queenstown, and Frankton, and all that area bounded by a line proceeding from Lorn Peak in a south-westerly direction to the Province of Southland; thence by the Province of Southland to Eyre Peak; thence by the western and northern watersheds of the Wakatip Lake to Fox Peak; thence by the eastern watershed of the Shotover river to the Kawarau river; and thence by the Hector mountains to Lorn Peak, the starting point.

St. Bathan’s Licensing District shall, for the purposes of the said Ordinance, comprise all that area bounded by a line proceeding from Mount St. Bathan’s due east to Hawkdun mountains; thence along the Hawkdun mountains to Mount Ida; thence along the western boundary of the Naseby Licensing District to North Rough-ridge hill; thence in a northerly direction to Ida burn at the junction of Pool burn; thence along Ida burn and the Manuherikia river to the junction of Lauder burn; thence along Lauder burn to its source; and thence along the Dunstan mountains to Mount St. Bathan’s, the starting point.

Clyde Licensing District shall, for the purposes of the said Ordinance, comprise the town of Clyde, and all that area bounded by a line proceeding from South Rough-ridge hill to Cairn hill; thence over the Obelisk to Lorn Peak; thence to and along the Hector mountains to the Kawarau river; thence along the Kawarau river, in an easterly direction, to the Kittle burn; thence to and along the Carrick mountains to a point due west of the Forkburn at its source; thence to and along the Cairnmuir range to Cairnmuir hill; thence
