NOTICE
Of certain Land in the Province of Otago having been reserved as an Endowment for the University of Otago.
By His Honor Captain Thomas Fraser, Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS the Provincial Council of Otago, in me in this behalf, do hereby, under and by virtue of Section 62 of the "Otago Waste Lands Act, 1865," recommended that the lands hereinafter described should be reserved as an Endowment for the University of Otago, to be established in Dunedin under the "University of Otago Ordinance, 1869," and it is expedient that the said lands should be so reserved for that purpose: Now therefore I, Thomas Fraser, Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby publish and declare that I have made and dedicated the lands hereinafter described, Reserves for the purpose of an Endowment for the said University of Otago, henceforth to be severally known as the "University of Otago Reserve" (that is to say):-
All that area situate in the Province of Otago, containing seventy thousand (70,000) acres, more or less; being Run 304, and part of Run 300E; bounded towards the north by Crown lands, and the remainder of Run 300E; towards the east by Crown lands, and the remainder of Run 79; towards the south by the Province of Southland and the Mararoa River; and towards the west by Run 301E, as the same is delineated on the Map of Runs in the Waiau District, deposited in the Provincial Survey Office, Dunedin;
And also, all that area situate in the Province of Otago, containing thirty thousand (30,000) acres, more or less; being Run 79; bounded towards the north and east by Sutton's Stream and the Taieri River; towards the south by Pipeclay Creek; and towards the west by Run 254, as the same is delineated on the Map of Runs in the south-eastern District, deposited in the Provincial Survey Office, Dunedin.

HIS HONOR the Deputy Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed Bryan Cecil Haggitt, Esquire, to be Provincial Solicitor for the Province of Otago; appointment to date from 6th May last.

HIS HONOR the Deputy Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed the following Members of the Police Force to be Inspectors of Slaughter Yards, as under:-
Foot Constable Michael Hunt, No. 291, for Arrow District, vice M’Gann, removed.
Foot Constable Thomas M’Gann, No. 420, for Queenstown District, vice Gallagher, resigned.
Foot Constable Patrick Finnigan Fleming, No. 337, for Cardrona District.
Foot Constable James Daly, No. 232, for Waitahuna District, vice Morkane, transferred.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Mining Lease prepared in favor of the Ida Valley Quartz Mining Company, registered, for Section 10, Blackstone District, has been cancelled by the Government.
