CORRECTION.
CLOSING ROADS.—Referring to the Notice which appears in the Gazette of the 31st March, 1869, of the intention to stop up certain Roads—Notice is hereby given that the Maps of the Chalgrove and Chalfont Road Districts are to be sent at the School-house, Hampden, and not as stated in the said notices at Otepopo School-house.

OTTERY.
The following clause of the “Town and Country Police Ordinance 1862” is published for general information:—
- If any person shall establish commence or be a partner or otherwise beneficially interested in any lottery or any scheme by which prizes whether of money or of any other matter or thing shall be gained drawn or thrown for or competed for by lot dice or any other mode of chance or shall sell or dispose of any tickets or other means by which permission or authority is gained or given to any person to throw for compete or have any interest in any such lottery or scheme or shall under any pretence or by means of any device sell or dispose of or endeavor to sell or dispose of any lands goods wares or merchandise by means of any game either of skill or chance every such person being duly convicted thereof shall forfeit and pay a penalty not exceeding fifty pounds and for any second offence besides such penalty shall be liable to imprisonment not exceeding six months: But this provision shall not apply to the distribution of any property amongst the owners thereof or to any raffle of any work purely of art of which a notice having the name and address of the person intending to hold the same subscribed thereto shall have been given to the Superintendent if the Superintendent shall not within one week after such notice prohibit such raffle by notice sent by post or in any other manner according to the address so subscribed by such person.

IN conformity with the 29th Section of “The Gold Field Act 1866,” it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease, for gold mining purposes, of Crown Lands to the undermentioned:
Joseph Poulter, pro Yankee Company, for 1 acre 3 roods and 18 perches of land, being Section 30, block xi, Skipper’s Creek District.
Tan Sack, pro Chinese Company, for 5 acres of land, being section 12, block xix, Shotover Survey District.
John Aspinall, pro Skipper’s Point Gold Mining Company, for 1 acre 2 roods and 13 perches of land, being section 27, block xi, Skipper’s Creek District.

IT IS HEREBY NOTIFIED that a Writ issued for the election of a person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for Taieri District, in place of Robert Miller Robertson, Esq., has been returned with a certificate to the effect that
JAMES SHAND, Esquire, of West Taieri, freeholder, has been duly elected.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Post Office hitherto known by the name of Warepa will, in future, be designated Waitepeka, and also that the Post Office recently opened at the School-house (Mr Ings’), will be designated Warepa.
