PROCLAMATION:
Montroyal Road District—Powers Suspended—Commissioner appointed.
By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1865,” it is amongst other things enacted in the 12th section thereof, that if any Local Board shall refuse or neglect to carry the said Ordinance into operation, the Superintendent may, with the advice of the General Road Board, by Proclamation published in the Gazette, declare the powers of such board to be suspended, and may, by such Proclamation, appoint a Commissioner, or such number of Commissioners as he may think fit for each district, and the several rights, privileges, and duties of such board shall, from the date of such Proclamation, vest in and be exercised by such Commissioner or Commissioners on behalf of the board:
And whereas the Local Board of the Montroyal Road District, have neglected to carry this said Ordinance into operation, and it is therefore deemed expedient and necessary to suspend the powers of the said Local Board, and to appoint a Commissioner for the said Montroyal Road District:
Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province, with the advice of the Otago General Road Board, do hereby proclaim and declare the powers of the Local Board of the Montroyal Road District to be and the same are hereby suspended, and I do hereby, with the advice aforesaid, appoint
JOSEPH PRESTON,
of Goodwood, in the said Province of Otago, Settler, a Commissioner for the said district, to exercise the rights, privileges, and duties of the said Local Board of the said District.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this nineteenth day of January, (n.s.) one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

PROCLAMATION:
Establishing a Reformatory School for the purposes of the “Neglected and Criminal Children Act 1867.”
By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by the “Neglected and Criminal Children Act 1867,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any Province to establish, for the purposes of the said Act, Reformatory Schools: And whereas it is expedient and necessary to establish a Reformatory School within the Province of Otago:
Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province, do hereby proclaim all that building, situate and being on Section numbered 41, Block VI, Town District, to be a Reformatory School within the meaning of the “Neglected and Criminal Children Act 1867.”
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, this nineteenth day of January, one thousand (n.s.) eight hundred and sixty-nine.
