A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in me vested in this behalf by "The Resident Magistrates’ Act, 1867," I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the first day of June next, the jurisdiction to be exercised by Thomas Windle Parker, Esq., within the Resident Magistrate’s Court for the Oamaru District,
as the same is defined by a proclamation bearing date the twenty-ninth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, shall be extended to fifty pounds.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at Wellington, this seventh day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

IT is hereby notified that in conformity with Clause 111. of "The Otago Municipal Corporations Act 1865," the name of the following person has been sent in to this office by the Town Clerk, as having been elected Mayor of Dunedin, in the room of the Hon. John Hyde Harris, resigned.

time to appoint polling places for each electoral district, within or without the limits thereof, and to appoint any one of such places to be the principal polling place for the district, and all or any of such polling places at any time to abolish, and to appoint other polling places in lieu thereof. And whereas by another Act of the General Assembly, intituled "The Provincial Elections Act 1858," it is enacted that, subject to certain provisions therein contained, every election of or a Member of the Provincial Council of a Province shall be conducted in the manner prescribed by "The Regulation of Elections Act 1858," aforesaid, and the provisions of the said last-mentioned Act shall apply to the elections of Superintendents and Members of Provincial Councils: Now, therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested by the said Acts, do hereby appoint the following places to be additional polling places for the districts hereinafter mentioned for the election of Members of the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, viz.:

District of Taieri:
The School House, Maungatua.

District of Clutha:
The School House, Popotunoa.

District of Dunstan:
The Court House, Black’s No. 1.

District of the Lakes:
The residence of Mr. Braden, Frankton.

District of Manuherekia:
The Court House, Naseby.

District of Tuapeka:
The Court House, Waipori.

District of Wakatipu:
The Court House, Moon Flat.

District of Waikouaiti:
The Court House, MacRae’s Flat.

District of Wakari:
The Drill Shed, Kaikorai.

District of Port Chalmers:
The School House, Port Chalmers.
