William Fuller, Sawyers’ Reef Quartz Mining Company, for section 4, block 10, Skipper’s Creek, Queenstown district;

Andrew Southberg, Victorian Sluicing Company, for section 9, block 11, Shotover, Queenstown district;

Thomas Brown, Manuherikia Ground Sluicing Company, for 10 acres of land, Lower Manuherikia;

for gold mining purposes, have been withdrawn, and the said land is open for occupation by holders of miner’s rights.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Applications of James Smith and party, for section 1, Whitecomb district, Potter’s, No. 2; Alexander Carnie, for 5 acres of land on north-west side of Winding Creek, Pig Hunter’s Point, Nokomai; for gold mining purposes, have been disallowed by the Government, and the said land is open for occupation by holders of miner’s rights.

WHEREAS by the Native Lands Act, 1867, it is amongst other things provided that in any case where, under the said Act (the Native Lands Act, 1867), the Court would not have had jurisdiction, it shall be competent to the said Court to inquire into and determine any question affecting the sub-division of, or any title to or interest in, any native reserve, which may be referred to it by the Governor: And whereas the Governor, by a warrant under his hand, dated the 24th day of February last, did refer to the Native Lands Court to determine who are the natives interested in the reserve hereunder described, and to order the sub-division of the same amongst those natives whom may be so interested, in such manner as to the said Court shall seem fit, and to order certificates to be issued according to the plan of such sub-division, in such or like manner as is provided in the 17th section of the “Native Lands Act, 1867.”

Now notice is hereby given, that at the sitting of this Court, to be held at Dunedin on the 27th of April next and following days, will be heard and determined the matter referred as aforesaid.
