NOTICE TO AGRICULTURISTS

The Provincial Government of Otago being desirous of promoting the growth of Irish, Dutch and Russian Flax, as affording a staple article of export, will be glad to receive communications from such parties throughout the various agricultural districts as may be inclined to undertake the cultivation of such flax.

The object of the Government is to afford in each district a practical illustration of the best mode of cultivating the plant, with which view it will provide the seed, furnish the necessary directions as to cropping, and aid to a moderate extent in any expenditure which the experiment may involve.

Communications to be addressed to His Honor the Superintendent.


SANDYMOUNT ROAD DISTRICT

Tenders wanted for road making in the above District, according to Specifications, the same may be seen at the house of Gavin Purdie, or at the residence of Archibald McKay, Clerk.


SANDYMOUNT DISTRICT

Notice is hereby given that an Application has been made to the General Road Board by the Sandymount Local Board for the closing of two Roads, as herein described, viz.:—

  1. Twenty-two chains long, sixty links wide, from southern angle of Section 53, Block II, Otago Peninsula, to northern angle of said section, bounded on the west by said section 53, on the east by applications 1577, 1576, and 1601 said Block II.

  2. Forty chains long, sixty links wide, from western angle of Section 1576, Block II, Otago Peninsula, to Portobello Road; bounded on the north by part application 1351, and applications Nos. 1728, 1209, 309, 1572, 2193, Block II, Otago Peninsula; south, application 1601, 63 and 60 sections said Block II.

And notice is hereby further given that if no objections are lodged to the closing of the said Roads within thirty days from date hereof, powers will be taken to close the same.


NOTICE

The Deborah Bay District Road Rate is now due, and must be paid to the Undersigned, either at his house, North Harbor Road, or at the Shop of Mr. Mawson, shoemaker, Port Chalmers, on or before the 6th day of May next.

Parties driving Sheep along the North Road are hereby cautioned against Camping or Depasturing their Sheep on the Government Township of Hawksbury, as the said locality is considered infected with the disease called Scab.

Notice is hereby given that a Sitting of this Court will be held at the Court House, Dunedin, on Monday, the 6th day of May next, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon, for the purpose of transacting all business arising out of the Debtors and Creditors’ Acts.


Notice is hereby given that a Sitting of this Court will be held at the Court House, Dunedin, on Tuesday, the 7th day of May next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, for the purpose of hearing appeals from the Wardens’ Courts.


TENDERS

Tenders will be received at the house of the undersigned, till 4 o’clock of Friday, the 26th instant, for certain Road Works in the Harrington District. Specifications, &c., to be seen at the Clerk’s house, and the works will be pointed out to intending contractors on the 23rd instant, after 10 o’clock, a.m.

SANDYMOUNT DISTRICT ROAD RATE

The General Road Board having issued a precept for the payment of the District Road Rate for the Year 1866-7, recently authorised to be levied over the Sandymount Road District, to the Undersigned Collector of said Rate. Notice is hereby given to the Ratepayers within the said Sandymount Road District, that the said Rate will be payable to Archibald McKay, Collector, at his residence within the said District, on and after the 25th day of April, 1867, and that payment must be made within thirty days from said date.


WAKARI DISTRICT ROAD RATE

Notice is hereby given to the Ratepayers in the Wakari Road District, that the rate for the present year is now payable to the undersigned, at his house, Sunnyside.
