OTAGO GOVERNMENT RURAL LAND SALES.

TUESDAY, 26TH MARCH, 1867.

About 100,000 Acres for Sale, at the Upset Price of 10s. per Acre.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Waste Land Board of Otago have resolved, with the sanction of the Superintendent and Provincial Council, to sell by auction, under the powers conferred by clause 35 of the "Otago Waste Lands Act, 1866," the unsold surveyed lands within the Hundreds of Dunedin, East and West Taieri, North and South Tokomairiro, and West and East Clutha, and Waihola, at the upset price of 10s. per acre.

There are about 100 allotments in the Dunedin Hundred, containing from 7 to 90 acres.

In the East Taieri, about 140 allotments, containing from 10 to 235 acres.

In the West Taieri, about 100 allotments, containing from 26 to 290 acres.

In the North Tokomairiro, about 125 allotments, containing from 20 to 285 acres.

In the South Tokomairiro, about 160 allotments, containing from 26 to 290 acres.

In the West Clutha, about 89 allotments, containing from 26 to 290 acres.

In the East Clutha, about 144 allotments, containing from 19 to 190 acres.

In the Waihola, about 220 allotments, containing from 15 to 400 acres.

The sale of the above lands will commence on Tuesday, the 26th day of March, 1867, at 12 o’clock, within the Provincial Council Hall, Government Buildings, Dunedin; and will begin with the allotments in the Dunedin Hundred, followed by those in the other Hundreds, in the order named above. The sale will be continued from day to day. The Gazette, stating the sections, &c., of land for sale, can be obtained at the Waste Land Office, Dunedin, the Survey Offices at Lawrence, Clyde, and Queenstown, and at all the Post-offices and School-houses throughout the Province, free of charge.

CROWN LANDS.—LEASES OF PASTORAL LANDS.—NOTICE.—The attention of Holders of Depasturing Licenses in the Province of Otago, is requested to the 69th section of the Otago Waste Lands Act, 1866, which provides that unless notice of intention to surrender the license be given within six months after the passing of the Act, they will be peremptorily excluded from receiving a Lease under the Act. The Act was assented to on the 8th of October last, consequently no notice can be received after the 8th of April next.

NOTICE.—SALE OF CROWN LANDS.—Some misapprehension existing with reference to the terms of the Waste Lands Act, 1866, as to the payment of purchase money on the Sale of Rural Lands by auction, intending purchasers at the sale, which commences on March 26, 1867, are informed that one-tenth of the purchase money must be paid at the time of sale, and the remaining nine-tenths within one month, or the deposit will be forfeited.

DUNEDIN TO PORTOBELLO.—Tenders will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Public Works until noon of Monday the 11th of March, for Contract No. 241.—Formation of portion of Road through Block IV, Portobello Bay District.

Plans and Specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the Office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin.

Tenders to be indorsed "Roads and Works, Tender for Contract No. 241."

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS.—Public Meetings of the Male Owners and Occupiers of Land, and Householders, in the Districts of Clyde, Alexandra, and Naseby (Mount Ida) respectively, will be held at the time and places hereinafter specified, to take the necessary steps for the formation of those localities into separate Educational Districts, under the provisions of the Educational Ordinance, 1864, and for the election of School Committees for the present year.

The meetings will be held as follows, viz. :

At Clyde, in the School-room, on Wednesday, March 13th, 1867, at 8 o’clock P.M.

At Alexandra, in the School-room, on Thursday, March 14th, at half-past 8 o’clock P.M.

At Naseby (Mount Ida), in the School-room, on Monday, March 18th, at half-past 8 o’clock P.M.
