Fourth, All that area situate in the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement twenty-one thousand five hundred acres more or less, situate in the Interior District; being portions of Runs originally numbered 386, 356, and 340 respectively, and now known as Blocks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, Shotover Survey District, and Waste Lands of the Crown, adjoining the said Blocks 4, 5, 6, and 7, Shotover District aforesaid, bounded towards the north by Runs numbered respectively 10 and 11, towards the east by Runs numbered respectively 11 and 13, towards the south by the Kawarau River, and towards the west by Runs numbered respectively 1 and 10, as before described.

MERTON ROAD BOARD NOTICE.—The Road Board of this District intend to apply to the General Road Board at its next meeting for power to levy a Rate of Threepence per acre on all Lands within the District.

The Assessment Roll is now ready, and can be inspected for fourteen days at David Brunton’s House, Merton.

HAWKSBURY ROAD RATE.—NOTICE.—The Precept authorising the Collection of this Rate having been issued, Ratepayers are requested to pay the same to Mr. Richard Fry, at his House within Hawksbury Road District, on or before 5th day of March, 1867.

GENERAL ROAD BOARD OFFICE.—NOTICE. The next meeting of the General Road Board is appointed to be held on Thursday, the 7th day of March now next, at 12 o’clock, at the Government Offices, Dunedin.

WAIWERA ROAD DISTRICT.—Election of Local Board of Road Trustees.—The Ratepayers in the Waiwera Road District having failed to attend the meeting for the election of Road Trustees to serve for the residue of the ensuing year, as advertised in the Supplement to the Otago Provincial Government Gazette, No. 435; Notice is hereby given, that a Meeting is appointed to take place on Friday, March 8th now next, at 5 o’clock in the afternoon, at Mr. John Anderson’s, Kelvin Grove, within the said district, for the purpose of electing such Local Board.

Note.—Special attention is directed to the 11th clause of the “Otago Roads Ordinance, 1865,” for mode of proceeding, &c. at electoral meetings.

WANTED, information about Job and Zacharias Curnow, belonging to Gwithian, near Hayle, Cornwall, who arrived in Melbourne per ship “Norfolk,” in 1861, and soon after proceeded to the Otago Gold Fields. Any intelligence regarding the above-mentioned persons will be received by the Immigration Agent, Dunedin, for transmission to their friends in Britain.

N ADJOURNED MEETING of the Education Board will be held at the Government Offices, Dunedin, upon Thursday, the 21st day of February, 1867, at noon.

CATTLE RETURNS.—The following Clause of the “Cattle Ordinance, 1864,” is published for general information:—

“15. Every Owner of Cattle shall, in the month of February in each year, deliver in writing to the Registrar of the District in which the Cattle shall be depasturing, or be, a Return of the Cattle above three months old owned by him, or under his charge within such District, and shall append thereto a declaration that such Return is true to the best of his belief; and every such person neglecting to make such Return and Declaration shall forfeit and pay a penalty of not under Ten or not more than Fifty Pounds, and the Return and Declaration shall be in the form set forth in the Schedule hereto annexed.”

NOTICE is hereby given, that a Sitting of the said Court in its Insolvency Jurisdiction will be holden at the Court House, Dunedin, on Monday, the 18th day of March next, at ten o’clock in the forenoon, for the purpose of transacting all business arising under the Debtors and Creditors’ Acts.

OTAGO GOVERNMENT RURAL LAND SALES:

About 100,000 Acres for Sale, at the Upset Price of 10s. per Acre.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Waste Land Board of Otago have resolved, with the sanction of the Superintendent and Provincial Council, to sell by auction, under the powers conferred by clause 35 of the “Otago Waste Lands Act, 1866,” the unsold surveyed lands within the Hundreds of Dunedin, East and West Taieri, Waihola, North and South Tokomairiro, and East and West Clutha, at the upset price of 10s. per acre.

There are about 100 allotments in the Dunedin Hundred, containing from 7 to 90 acres.

In the East Taieri, about 140 allotments, containing from 10 to 235 acres.

In the West Taieri, about 100 allotments, containing from 26 to 290 acres.

In the North Tokomairiro, about 125 allotments, containing from 20 to 285 acres.

In the South Tokomairiro, about 160 allotments, containing from 26 to 290 acres.

In the West Clutha, about 39 allotments, containing from 26 to 290 acres.

In the East Clutha, about 144 allotments, containing from 19 to 190 acres.

In the Waihola, about 220 allotments, containing from 15 to 400 acres.

The sale of the above lands will commence on Monday, the 25th day of February, 1867, at 12 o’clock, within the Provincial Council Hall, Government Buildings, Dunedin; and will begin with the allotments in the Dunedin Hundred, followed by those in the other Hundreds, in the order named above. The sale will be continued from day to day. This Gazette can be obtained from the Waste Land Office, Dunedin, the Survey Offices at Lawrence, Clyde, and Queenstown, and at all the Post-offices and School-houses throughout the Province.
