About 100,000 Acres for Sale, at the Upset Price of 10s. per Acre.
NOTICE is hereby given, that the Waste Land Board of Otago have resolved, with the sanction of the Superintendent and Provincial Council, to sell by auction, under the powers conferred by clause 35 of the "Otago Waste Lands Act, 1866," the unsold surveyed lands within the Hundreds of Dunedin, East and West Taieri, Waihola, North and South Tokomairiro, and East and West Clutha, at the upset price of 10s. per acre.
There are about 100 allotments in the Dunedin Hundred, containing from 7 to 90 acres.
In the East Taieri, about 140 allotments, containing from 10 to 235 acres.
In the West Taieri, about 100 allotments, containing from 26 to 290 acres.
In the North Tokomairiro, about 125 allotments, containing from 20 to 285 acres.
In the South Tokomairiro, about 160 allotments, containing from 26 to 290 acres.
In the West Clutha, about 39 allotments, containing from 26 to 290 acres.
In the East Clutha, about 144 allotments, containing from 19 to 190 acres.
In the Waihola, about 220 allotments, containing from 15 to 400 acres.
The sale of the above lands will commence on Monday, the 25th day of February, 1867, at 12 o’clock, within the Provincial Council Hall, Government Buildings, Dunedin; and will begin with the allotments in the Dunedin Hundred, followed by those in the other Hundreds, in the order named above. The sale will be continued from day to day. This Gazette can be obtained at the Waste Land Office, Dunedin, the Survey Offices at Lawrence, Clyde, and Queenstown, and at all the Post-offices and School-houses through.

HUNDREDS.—Election of Wardens.—List of Persons to whom Depasturing Licenses have been issued within the Hundreds of Dunedin, West Taieri, Waihola, North Tokomairiro, South Tokomairiro, West Clutha, Popotunoa, Tuturau, Mokereta, Waitahuna, Waikouaiti, Hawksbury, Moeraki, Otepopo, Oamaru, Awamoka, Kakanui, and Marawenua, for the year 1867, with the places and dates where the meetings for the election of Wardens will be held, and the number of Wardens to be elected for each Hundred.

In terms of the XIX Clause of the "Otago Waste Lands Act, 1866," I hereby call meetings of the persons whose names appear in the above lists, to elect from among themselves, by a majority of votes, persons to act as Wardens within the before named Hundreds, for the year 1867; such meetings to be held at the following places, and the number of Wardens to be elected as under specified, viz., for
Dunedin Hundred, 3 Wardens. Meeting—in the Land Office, Dunedin, on Thursday, the 14th February next, at 12 o’clock.
West Taieri Hundred, 5 Wardens. Meeting—at the School House, Waipori Lake, on Wednesday, the 13th February next, at 12 o’clock.
Waihola Hundred, 5 Wardens. Meeting—at the Court House, Tokomairiro, on Monday, the 18th February, at 12 o’clock.
North Tokomairiro Hundred, 5 Wardens. Meeting—at the Court House, Tokomairiro, on 18th February, after the election for Waihola.
South Tokomairiro Hundred, 5 Wardens. Meeting—at the Court House, Tokomairiro, on 18th February, after the election for North Tokomairiro.
Waitahuna Hundred, 3 Wardens. Meeting—at the School House, Glenore, on Saturday, the 16th February, at 12 o’clock.
West Clutha Hundred, 3 Wardens. Meeting—at the Court House, Balclutha, on Tuesday, the 19th February, at 12 o’clock.
Popotunoa Hundred, 3 Wardens. Meeting—at the School House, Wairuna—on Thursday, the 21st February, at 12 o’clock noon.
Tuturau Hundred, 3 Wardens. Meeting—at Mr. Stewart Shanks’ Home Station, Friday, 22nd February, at 12 o’clock noon.
Mokereta Hundred, 3 Wardens. Meeting—at the house of H. J. Squires, on Saturday, the 23rd February, at 12 o’clock.
Waikouaiti Hundred, 3 Wardens. Meeting—at the Kilmogue Hotel, Blueskin, on Tuesday, the 19th February, at 12 o’clock.
Hawksbury Hundred, 5 Wardens. Meeting—at the Court House, there; on Wednesday, the 20th February, at 12 o’clock.
Moeraki Hundred, 5 Wardens. Meeting—at the School House, Hampden, on Thursday, the 21st February, at 12 o’clock.
Otepopo Hundred, 5 Wardens. Meeting—at the School House, Herbert, on Monday, the 18th February, at 12 o’clock.
Oamaru Hundred, 3 Wardens. Meeting—at the Court House, there, at 10 o’clock a.m., on Tuesday, 19th February.
Awamoka Hundred, 3 Wardens. Meeting—19th, after election for Oamaru.
Kakanui Hundred, 3 Wardens. Meeting—19th, after election for Awamoka.
Marawenua Hundred, 3 Wardens. Meeting—19th, after election for Kakanui.

THE following Clauses of "The Crown Land Sales Extortion Prevention Act" are published for general information:
II. Every person who shall directly or indirectly offer or propose to accept or receive money or other valuable consideration as an inducement to abstain from bidding or competing as a purchaser or intending purchaser of land belonging to the Crown advertised for sale by public auction and whether or not the same land shall actually be put up for sale or otherwise shall be deemed to be guilty of a misdemeanour and be liable on conviction thereof to be imprisoned for any period not exceeding twelve calendar months and with or without hard labor or to be fined any sum not exceeding two hundred pounds sterling.
III. Every person who shall actually receive money or other valuable consideration for abstaining to bid or compete for the purchase of any Crown Lands which shall have been advertised for sale by public auction and whether or not the same land shall be put up for sale by public auction shall be deemed to have been guilty of a misdemeanour and shall on conviction thereof be liable to be imprisoned with or without hard labor for any period not exceeding two years or fined any sum not exceeding five hundred pounds.
IV. Every person from whom money or other valuable consideration shall have been extorted by the means aforesaid may recover the amount or value of the consideration so extorted in an action for money had and received.
V. It shall be lawful for the Commissioner of Crown Lands in any Province of the Colony or any other person conducting any sale by public auction of Waste Lands of the Crown or any person attending any such
