PROCLAMATION.

Cancellation of License to Depasture Stock on certain Crown Lands in the Province of Otago.

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province.

WHEREAS by virtue and in exercise of the powers delegated to and vested in him in that behalf by the "Gold Fields Act, 1866," John Hyde Harris, the then Superintendent of the Province of Otago, did, by Proclamation in the Provincial Government Gazette, dated the fifteenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, constitute and appoint the Lands particularly described in the said Proclamation, comprising, amongst other Lands, the Lands hereinafter described, to be a Gold Field, under the provisions of the said "Gold Fields Act, 1862," by the name of the "Mount Benger Gold Field," and the limits of such Gold Field did, in and by the said Proclamation,

define: And whereas the said Lands hereinafter described are Crown Lands, subject to be dealt with under the provisions of the "Gold Fields Act, 1866;" and the said Lands are now or lately were held in occupation by Mr. Henry Monro, under License numbered 173: And whereas I have determined to cancel the said License as to so much and such part of the Lands held under the same as are comprised within the area hereinafter described;

Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the powers delegated to me in this behalf by His Excellency the Governor, under the provisions of the "Gold Fields Act, 1866," and by virtue of all other powers in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby cancel the said License numbered "173" in so far as the Lands comprised within the area hereinafter described are affected by the said License, but no further or otherwise—that is to say:

All that area in the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement two thousand five hundred (2500) acres more or less, situate in the South-Eastern District, being part of Run numbered 178, as delineated on the map deposited in the Survey Office at Dunedin, bounded by a line commencing at a point seven hundred (700) links north-east from the Saddle on the Main Interior Road, and extending due south twenty-three thousand two hundred (23,200) links, thence by a line in an easterly direction five thousand two hundred (5200) links to a point one thousand (1000) links distant from the Clutha River, thence by a line in a northerly direction parallel to and one thousand (1000) links distant from the Clutha River thirty-six thousand (36,000) links, be the same more or less, thence by a line in a westerly direction three thousand (3000) links to the starting point.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago at Dunedin, this thirteenth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.
