PROCLAMATION
Altering the Limit of the Tuapeka Gold Field, in the
Province of Otago.

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province.

WHEREAS it is desirable to alter the limits of the Tuapeka Gold Field by including in the said Gold Field the Lands hereinafter described;—Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue of the powers delegated to me by His Excellency the Governor, under and by virtue of the “Gold Fields Acts Amendment Act, 1865,” do hereby proclaim and declare that the Lands hereinafter described shall henceforth be included within and form part of the Tuapeka Gold Field, under the provisions of the said Act, and the “Gold Fields Act, 1862” (that is to say)—

All that area situate in the south-eastern District of the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement three thousand two hundred (3200) acres, more or less, bounded from a line connecting Trig. Stations C. and K., Table Hill District by the eastern boundary of the existing Tuapeka Gold Field to a line connecting Trig. Stations E. and F. in the said Table Hill District, thence in a south-easterly direction to Trig. Station E., thence in a southerly direction to Trig. Station D., and thence in a south-westerly direction over Trig. Station C., all in the Table Hill District, to and across the east branch of the Tokomairiro River to the boundary of the Tuapeka Gold Field aforesaid.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, (L.S.) this sixth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.

PROCLAMATION
Withdrawing from the Tuapeka Gold Field certain Waste Lands of the Crown, in the Province of Otago.

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province.

WHEREAS by Proclamation, bearing date the fifteenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, published in the Government Gazette of the Province of Otago, certain Lands therein particularly described were constituted a Gold Field, under the name of the “Tuapeka Gold Field,” and the limits of the said “Tuapeka Gold Field” were thereby defined: And whereas the Lands hereinafter described are within the limits of the said “Tuapeka Gold Field” as so defined, and it is expedient to withdraw the same from the said “Tuapeka Gold Field”;—Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue of the powers delegated to me in this behalf by His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand in Council, under the authority of the “Gold Fields Acts Amendment Act, 1865,” do hereby proclaim and declare that I do withdraw from the said “Tuapeka Gold Field” the Lands hereinafter described (that is to say)—

All that area situate in the South-eastern District of the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement fourteen thousand four hundred (14,400) acres, more or less, bounded from the east branch of the Tokomairiro River in a westerly direction by the main South Road to Lovell’s Creek, thence in a northerly direction by Lovell’s Creek, and a direct line proceeding north by east until it intersects a line connecting Trig. Stations Z. and V., Hillend District, thence in an easterly direction by a line proceeding over Trig. Station V. to Trig. Station W., Tokomairiro District, thence to Trig. Station I., Tokomairiro District, and over Trig. Station K., Table Hill District, to the east branch of the Tokomairiro River, and thence in a southerly direction by the Tokomairiro River to the Main South Road, the starting point.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago at (L.S.) Dunedin, this sixth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.

PROCLAMATION
Of the Municipality of Port Chalmers.

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, made and passed in the twenty-ninth year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled, “An Ordinance to Amend the Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” it is, amongst other things, enacted, that it should be lawful for the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice of his Executive Council, and he was thereby authorised and required, on the petition of not less than fifty persons, comprising a majority of the householders resident in any Township within the Province, by Proclamation in the Government Gazette of the said Province, to extend the provisions of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” to such Township, by such name or incorporation as he should deem fit, with such modification as to the names and number of the members of such proposed Corporation, and the Office-bearers thereof, and any other municipal matters and regulations as should seem to such Superintendent and his Executive Council suitable for the area and population of such Municipality; and, in accordance with such petition or otherwise, should define the boundaries of the Municipality so created, and declare the number of Wards into which such Municipality might be divided, and define the boundaries of such Wards respectively, and declare which of the provisions of the said Ordinance should be applicable to and within the limits of such Municipality: And whereas a Petition of seventy-nine persons, comprising a majority of the householders resident in the Township of Port Chalmers, in the said Province of Otago, has been presented to me, Thomas Dick, as Superintendent of the said Province, praying that the provisions of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” may be extended to the said Township: Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the said Province, with the advice of my Executive Council, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare, that from and after the day of the date hereof the provisions of the said “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” specified in the first Schedule hereto, shall extend to the said Township of Port Chalmers by and under the name of the Corporation of the Town of Port Chalmers and shall be applicable to and within the Municipality hereby created. And I do, with the like advice of my said Executive Council, proclaim and declare that such of the said provisions as are contained in the sections of the said last-mentioned Ordinance, specified in the first column of the second Schedule hereto, shall extend to the said Township and be applicable to the Municipality hereby created, with and subject to the respective modifications contained herein, and in the second column of the said second Schedule hereto. And I hereby, with the advice of my said Executive Council, proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the Municipality hereby created shall be those specified in the third Schedule hereto.
