PROVINCE OF OTAGO

Western boundary line of the said Block 4, to the northern boundary line of Block 6, North Harbor and Blueskin Survey District, thence by the said northern boundary line of the said Block 6, and the northern boundary line of Block 7, North Harbor and Blueskin Survey District, to the Main North Road, thence by the Main North Road to the northern boundary line of the North-East Valley Survey District, thence in a westerly direction by the said northern boundary line of the North-East Valley Survey District to a road line between Sections 87 and 89 of the said District, thence by the said road line continued between Sections 86 and 88, North-East Valley District to the northern boundary line of Block 9, North Harbor and Blueskin Survey District; thence in an easterly direction by the said northern boundary line of the said Block 9, to the north-west corner of Section 33, Sawyer’s Bay Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction by the boundary line of the said Sawyer’s Bay Survey District to Otago Harbor, and thence by high-water mark to the starting point.

  1. TAIERI LICENSING DISTRICT shall, for the purposes of the said Ordinance, comprise all that area bounded towards the north by the Tuapeka and Taieri Gold Fields; towards the east and south by the Dunedin Licensing District; and towards the west by the Taieri River, the Waihola Lake, and Megget Burn; also, all that area within the Taieri Gold Field, and south of the Rock and Pillar Mountain, which may be withdrawn from the operation of the Gold Fields Act.

  2. TOKOMAIRIRO LICENSING DISTRICT shall, for the purposes of the said Ordinance, comprise all that area bounded towards the north by the Tuapeka Gold Field; towards the east by the Taieri and Dunedin Licensing Districts; towards the south by the Ocean; and towards the west by the Clutha District.

  3. CLUTHA LICENSING DISTRICT shall, for the purposes of the said Ordinance, comprise all that area bounded towards the north by the Nokomai and Mount Benger Gold Fields; towards the east by the Mount Benger and Tuapeka Gold Fields to Lovell’s Creek, thence by Lovell’s Creek, the Tuakitoto Lake, Kaitangata Lake and Creek, and the Clutha River, to the Ocean; towards the south by the Ocean; and towards the west by the Province of Southland.

  4. HAMILTON LICENSING DISTRICT shall, for the purposes of the said Ordinance, comprise the town of Hamilton and all that area within the Mount Ida and Taieri Gold Fields north of the Rock and Pillar Mountain, which may be withdrawn from the operation of the Gold Fields Act.

  5. LAWRENCE LICENSING DISTRICT shall, for the purposes of the said Ordinance, comprise the town of Lawrence and all that area within the Tuapeka and Waitahuna Gold Fields, which has been or may be withdrawn from the operation of the Gold Fields Act.

PROCLAMATION,

Fixing and appointing the Resident Magistrates’ Courts at Dunedin, Clyde, Lawrence, Oamaru, and Queenstown, as the places for holding Quarterly Licensing Meetings in the Licensing Districts of Dunedin, Clyde, Lawrence, Oamaru, and Queenstown respectively.

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

Whereas by Section XII of the “Licensing Ordinance, 1865,” it is enacted (amongst other things) that if at any time there shall be more than one Resident Magistrate’s Court usually holden within any Licensing District, the Superintendent shall, by Proclamation published in the Government Gazette of the said Province, fix and appoint at which of the Courts within the Licensing District the Quarterly Licensing Meetings thereafter mentioned should be held;

Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me in this behalf, do hereby fix and appoint the Resident Magistrate’s Court adjoining the Supreme Court House at Dunedin as the court at which the quarterly licensing meetings for the Dunedin Licensing District shall be held; and the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Clyde as the court at which the quarterly licensing meetings for the Clyde Licensing District shall be held; and the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Lawrence as the court at which the quarterly licensing meetings for the Lawrence Licensing District shall be held; and the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Oamaru as the court at which the quarterly licensing meetings for the Oamaru Licensing District shall be held; and the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Queenstown as the court at which the quarterly licensing meetings for the Queenstown Licensing District shall be held.

PROCLAMATION

Rescinding the 4th and 7th of the Clauses, Provisoes, and Conditions heretofore applicable to Agricultural Leases on the Gold Fields, and proclaiming others in lieu thereof:

By His Honor Thomas Dick, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

Whereas John Hyde Harris, the then Superintendent of the Province of Otago, did, by Proclamation in the Provincial Government Gazette, issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, on the tenth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in him vested in that behalf, proclaim and declare the Clauses, Provisoes, and Conditions in the said Proclamation contained, as applicable to any Agricultural Leases thereafter granted by him under the several provisions of the “Gold Fields Act, 1862,” relating thereto: And whereas it is expedient that the fourth and seventh of the said Clauses, Provisoes, and Conditions so proclaimed and declared as aforesaid should be rescinded, and that others should be made in lieu thereof:

Now therefore I, Thomas Dick, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers delegated to and vested in me in this behalf, do hereby rescind the fourth and seventh of the said Clauses, Provisoes, and Conditions accordingly, and do order that the same shall stand rescinded from the day of the date hereof: and in lieu of the said fourth Clause, Proviso, or Condition, I do proclaim and declare the following (that is to say)—

4th. The annual rent charged on every Agricultural Lease shall be at the rate of two shillings and sixpence per acre, payable yearly in advance from the date of application, and any fractional part of an acre will be considered as an acre and charged accordingly.

And in lieu of the said seventh Clause, Proviso, or Condition, I do proclaim and declare the following (that is to say)—
