trespass, and shall forfeit and pay for every such offence any sum not exceeding Five Pounds.
[Nothing herein contained shall prejudice the right of the Waste Land Board, or the Commissioner of Crown Lands, to proceed against such trespasser for the recovery of the penalty of Fifty Pounds imposed by the 76th clause of the Waste Land Regulations for the illegal occupation of Crown Lands.]

Any person who shall set fire to the herbage or grass upon the Crown Lands within the Hundred without the consent in writing of the Wardens, or a majority of them, previously obtained, shall forfeit and pay for every such offence any sum not exceeding Five Pounds; but such consent of the Wardens will not protect any person from the consequence of any loss or damage which may be sustained by any person by reason of the carelessness with which such burning of the Hundred may be performed.

Any person disturbing or harassing cattle depastured within the boundaries of the Hundred, shall forfeit and pay for every such offence any sum not exceeding Five Pounds; provided always that the holder of the depasturing license within the Hundred, or any person duly authorised in his behalf, may drive such cattle for the purpose of collecting such as may belong to him, and for the free and legitimate use of his right of pasturage within the Hundred; but in the event of its being necessary for such purpose to drive any cattle belonging to any other person to a greater distance than half a mile, the person so driving such cattle must take them to the nearest available stock-yard, and there separate his own from those of other persons, and return the latter to the place from which they were driven; and failing so to do will be liable to the penalty of any sum not exceeding Five Pounds for every such offence. Any person removing cattle beyond the boundary of the Hundred other than those belonging to him, or for the removal of which he shall have due authority, shall forfeit and pay for every such offence any sum not exceeding Five Pounds.

All or any of the acts authorised by these Bye-laws to be done by the Wardens, or a majority of them, may be done by any Ranger, or any person duly appointed by them, or authorised in that behalf.

Any person shooting cattle on the Hundred without the consent in writing previously obtained of the Wardens, or a majority of them, shall be liable to a penalty of Ten Pounds.
The above Bye-laws were adopted by the Wardens of the South Tokomairiro Hundred, April 17th, 1865.

IMPOUNDED on the 10th day of May, 1865, by Ed. Downes, Ranger on Dunedin Hundred, one dark strawberry Cow, branded JPH (the J and P conjoined) off rump, owner unknown, for trespassing on the Dunedin Hundred; and in default of being released, the above cow will be sold at the Public Pound, at Blueskin, on the 9th day of June, 1865, at 12 o'clock noon.

IN pursuance of the powers in that behalf vested in the Governor, the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, doth hereby rescind all former regulations made under the "Land Registry Act, 1860," and the several Acts amending the said Act, and doth hereby make the following Rules, Orders, and Regulations under the said Acts.

REGULATIONS ACCORDING TO WHICH THE PRACTICE AND PROCEDURE UNDER THE LAND REGISTRY ACT, 1860, SHALL BE REGULATED AND CONDUCTED.
MAPS.

Maps of all Crown Lands granted or disposed of, arranged in Districts of convenient size, shall be constructed and kept for the purpose of Registration in each Registration District.

Such Maps shall be termed Registration Maps, and the words "Registration Map" shall be written upon them.

From time to time, as required, Supplementary Maps shall be constructed of land newly granted, and the sections or allotments newly granted shall be laid off on the original Maps, so that the Registration Maps in use may include all Crown Lands from time to time disposed of.

All such Maps shall be constructed under direction of the Registrar General.

Every Map shall be signed by the Registrar General.

The Maps shall be conveniently named, numbered, or otherwise distinguished, for reference, as the Registrar General shall from time to time direct.

The Registration Maps of each district shall be deposited with the District Registrar of such district.
-
No alteration in, or addition to, such Maps shall be made, except as authorised by the Regulations, or by authority of the Registrar General.

In every Registration Map the sections, sub-sections, or allotments, shall be numbered as the Registrar General shall direct.

Pending the construction of Registration Maps, Maps on Original Crown Grants may be referred to as and for the purposes of Registration Maps, and the same need not be signed by the Registrar General.
SUB-DIVISIONAL MAPS.

Sub-divisional Maps, connected with each Registration Map shall be kept on separate files, conveniently numbered or distinguished for reference.

If a proprietor shall sub-divide an allotment for sale or transfer, he may cause a sub-divisional Map thereof, shewing the proposed sub-divisions, to be made and deposited with the District Registrar.

He may from time to time with the consent of the District Registrar, alter any such sub-divisions, which may not have been disposed of, by causing a fresh sub-divisional Map to be made subject to like conditions.

Where application shall be made by a proprietor to register his title to a sub-divided part of an original allotment, the District Registrar may require a sub-divisional Map to be deposited with him.
