  1. The Landing Steps at all Jetties shall be open to the public, and no charge shall be made for watermen’s boats plying to and from said Landing places.

  2. The Jetty Dues shall be at the following rates, on all goods shipped or landed, and shall be paid by the master or owner of the vessel:

Coals
Bricks
Lime
Wooden Posts and Rails
Salt
Sawn Timber
Stone
} 6d. per ton of 40 ft. or 20 cwt.

Firewood, 1s. per cord; Wool, 6d. per bale; Horses, 1s.; Cattle, 9d.; Sheep, 1d.; Pigs, 2d. per head; Immigrants’ and Passengers’ Luggage free; all other goods at the rate of 1s. per ton. Vessels under 40 tons register shall be allowed four, and vessels above that tonnage shall be allowed six, working days to load and unload at the Jetties, as the case may be; and any vessel remaining longer at any Jetty shall be charged one penny per registered ton per day.

  1. All lamps must be kept properly burning from sunset till sunrise.

  2. The lessee must keep on each Jetty, if required by the Harbour Master, a Notice Board, placed to the satisfaction of the Harbour Master, containing the Scale of Charges, and any other Jetty or Harbour Regulations which the Harbour Master may deem necessary.

  3. The leases shall contain the foregoing conditions and other usual and necessary clauses of a lease.

The following sums were collected at Jetty-street Jetties and Stuart-street Jetty, Dunedin, during the year 1864, clear of expenses of collecting. The other Jetties have been free hitherto. There is a slight alteration in the mode in which the dues are to be levied under the lease from that which existed during 1864. The expense of collecting was £625.

SALE OF TOLLS.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Tolls authorised to be collected at the Toll Gate on the Anderson’s Bay Road, at the South-Eastern Boundary of the Town Belt, for 8 months, from 1st March, 1865, will be exposed for Sale by Public Auction, at the Public Works Office, Dunedin, at noon of Monday, the 20th day of February next.

RATES OF TOLL TO BE TAKEN.

(1.) For every horse or other beast drawing any coach chariot landau barouche chaise phaeton curicle car gig or any such like carriage—one shilling.

(2.) For every horse or other beast (but two oxen or neat cattle to count as one horse) drawing any waggon wain or other such like carriage—one shilling. When the tire of each wheel is four inches broad or upwards—ninepence.

(3.) For every horse or other beast drawing any cart or dray on two wheels—sixpence.

(4.) For every horse mule or ass laden or unladen and not drawing—sixpence.

(5.) For every drove of horses mules or asses unladen and not drawing—three pence for every head.

(6.) For every drove of oxen cows or neat cattle the sum of three shillings and fourpence per score and so in proportion for any greater or less number.

(7.) For every drove of calves swine goats sheep or lambs the sum of tenpence per score and so in proportion for any greater or less number.

TO THE INHABITANTS OF OTEPOPO.

NOTICE is hereby given, that in pursuance of the provisions of the “Education Ordinance, 1864,” a public meeting of the owners and occupiers of land and householders in the district of Otepopo and vicinity, will be held in the temporary school-house there, upon Monday, the 18th day of February, 1865, at half-past six o’clock p.m., to consider and declare whether the said locality shall be formed into an Educational District under the “Education Ordinance, 1864,” and to elect a School Committee for the current year.

NOTICE.

TO the Ratepayers in the N. E. Valley Road District—Mr. Hardy, Commissioner of Roads Deviations, will meet the Ratepayers in the N. E. Valley Road District at the Water of Leith Hotel, on Friday first, the 10th instant, at 5 o’clock p.m., to confer as to the separation of the Pine Hill part of the District, and its formation into a new Road District.
