HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him, he has appointed
Mounted Constable CHARLES BALDWIN RIGBY,
No. 388,
to be Inspector of Slaughter Houses, and of Cattle intended for Slaughter, within Hamilton’s and the Serpentine Diggings.

TREASURY ESCORT.
UP TRIP.
THE main Escort will leave Dunedin on every alternate Monday, commencing on the 5th proximo. Will meet the Tuapeka Branch Escort at Saddle Hill the same day, and the Hamilton Branch Escort on the following Wednesday at Upper Taieri; will arrive at Dunstan and meet Teviot Branch Escort on Friday, and reach Queenstown on Saturday.
The Tuapeka Branch Escort will meet the Main Escort at Saddle Hill on every alternate Monday, commencing the 5th proximo.
The Hamilton Branch Escort will meet the Main Escort at Upper Taieri on every alternate Wednesday, beginning on the 7th proximo.
DOWN TRIP.
The Main Escort will leave Queenstown on every alternate Monday, commencing on the 12th December, pass through Arrow and arrive at Cromwell on same day; leave Cromwell on Tuesday, and meet Teviot Branch Escort at Dunstan on same date; meet Hamilton Branch Escort on Wednesday at Upper Taieri, and Tuapeka Branch Escort on Friday at Saddle Hill, and arrive in Dunedin on the same day.
The Teviot Branch Escort will leave the Teviot on Monday, the 12th December, and meet the Main Escort at Dunstan on the following morning.
The Hamilton Branch Escort will leave Dunstan Creek on Tuesday, the 13th, and Hamilton on following day, and meet the Main Escort at Upper Taieri on that day.
The Tuapeka Branch Escort will leave Tuapeka on Thursday, the 15th December, pass through Waitahuna on same day, and will meet the Main Escort on Friday, at Saddle Hill.

IMPOUNDED on the 2nd day of November, 1864, by Robert Meek—1 Bay Horse, small star on forehead, branded 5D on neck off side (owner unknown), for trespassing on the Oamaru Hundreds, for which the sum of £2 is claimed, and in default of being released, the above horse will be sold at the Public Pound, at Hampden, on the 1st day of December, 1864, at 12 o’clock noon.

IMPOUNDED on the 14th day of November, 1864, by Constable Carter—1 Yellow and White Cow, branded J.3.; 1 Red Cow, branded EH over 3; 1 Strawberry Cow, branded D; 1 Yellow and White Cow, no visible brand; 1 Red and White Heifer, no visible brand; 1 Yellow and White Bull, no visible brand. Owners unknown. For trespassing on Main Road, and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound, at Caversham, on the 9th day of December, 1864, at 12 o’clock noon.

IMPOUNDED, on the 17th day of November, 1864, by Constable Patrick Coffey, one Bay Gelding, switch tail, star on forehead, branded HE conjoined; newel on near shoulder, also a number of illegible brands on near side of neck and other parts of said Gelding; also one Roan-colored Mare, star on forehead, branded No. 2 on near side of neck, and HE conjoined on near shoulder, for trespassing on Cumberland-street, Dunedin; and in default of being released the above Gelding and Mare will be sold by auction, at the Public Pound, North Dunedin, on the 9th day of December, 1864, at 12 o’clock noon.

NOTICE.—Section 1 of 27, Block II, Clarendon District, having been reserved from sale pending the settlement of certain claims for part thereof purchased as unsurveyed land, Notice is hereby given that the reserve will be withdrawn on Wednesday, the 4th day of January next, and the section will be open for application. Any person having a claim to the said section, or any part thereof, must attend at the Land Office and have such claim adjusted before the 4th day of January next, or it will be disregarded, and the land sold.
