Day Marks.

The Obelisk on Shortland’s Bluff, in line with east tangent of High Light, N. 32° E., clears them to the westward. Point Lonsdale Flagstaff, open on either side of Point Lonsdale Telegraph House (white with a slate roof), clears them to the northward and southward.

Night Marks.

The light on Point Lonsdale showing green about N.W. by N. leads south of them. The same light showing red from W.N.W. to W. by N. leads north of them.

[All bearings are magnetic. Variation 8° 16’ east.]

APPOINTMENT TO BE MADE.—Sub-Treasurer of the Province. Applications to be made to the Treasurer, before twelve o’clock on Saturday, 5th November.

ACCEPTED TENDERS.—Contract No. 96.—Flagging footpath, pitching, crossing, and forming waterway, in front of Dunedin Hospital, and also taking up, flagging, and re-laying in front of Police Station, Princes Street.

Labor excavating trench and setting kerb at per lineal foot, 8d.

Forming and trimming footpath at per lineal chain, £5.

Bluestone pitching materials and labor at per superficial foot, 8d.

2½ inch bluestone metal at per cubic yard, 7s.

Arbroath Flagging, 2½ inch, at per superficial foot, 1s. 9d.

Cast iron gutter plates at per lb., 8d.

Taking up and re-laying flagging at per superficial yard, 2s. Lonnie and Co.

Contract, No. 95.—Telegraphs, Tokomairiro to Wakatipu, supply, delivery, erection and maintenance of telegraphic posts between Tokomairiro and the Wakatipu Lake, being completion of “Henry Hill’s Contract.” David Proudfoot and Co. at the following prices:—

For the supply of posts along the centre line or within the limits of deviation, at per post, £2 15s.

For the erection of ditto, including the necessary excavation, ramming, &c., at per post, 6s.

For the maintenance of posts after completion of Contract, and for six months after fitting of the wire, including removal and replacement of any defective posts, at per post, 9s. 8d.

Any other timber that may be required, at per cubic foot, 6s.

MEETING OF THE WAIHOLA EAST DISTRICT ROAD BOARD.—Notice is hereby given that the first Meeting of the recently elected Board of Trustees, for the Waihola East Road District, is appointed to be held in the School-room, in the said District, upon Wednesday, the 9th day of November, at 6 o’clock p.m.

MEETING OF THE HIGHCLIFFE DISTRICT ROAD BOARD.—Notice is hereby given, that the first Meeting of the recently elected Board of Trustees, for the Highcliffe Road District, is appointed to be held at the house of Mr James Beattie, within the said District, upon Wednesday, the 9th day of November current, at 2 o’clock p.m., for the transaction of general business connected with the District Roads.

ANDERSON’S BAY ROAD DISTRICT.—Meeting for Election of Road Board.—The Ratepayers in the Anderson’s Bay Road District having failed to attend the Meeting for the election of Road Trustees, for the year ending June 1865, advertised in the Government Advertising Sheet, No. 11.—Notice is hereby given that a Meeting for the above purpose will be held in the School-room, in the said District, on Friday, the 11th November current, at 7 o’clock p.m.

Special attention is directed to the 7th and 9th Sections of the “Roads Ordinance, 1856,” regulating the proceedings for the elections of District Road Boards.
