His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has been pleased to appoint Mr. Joseph Tuckwell, to be Gaoler of the Hulk at Port Chalmers.

VACCINATION.—His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has been pleased to appoint the gentleman afternamed to be a Medical Officer, under the “Vaccination Act, 1863,” and that he will attend as aftermentioned for the performance of Vaccination, and will also attend on the eighth day thereafter to inspect the result of the operation, as required by the said Act.
John Lord, Esq., M.D., will attend at the Court House, Alexandra, on the first Saturday of every month, at 2 p.m.

PUBLIC CONTRACTS.—The following clause has been inserted in the General Conditions of all Contracts entered into with the Provincial Government since 25th August last, and is published for general information:
“Provided that on a complaint in writing being made to the Superintendent by any person or persons employed by the Contractor, that his or their wages are more than a fortnight in arrears and unpaid, it shall be lawful for the said Superintendent to refuse to pay the said Contractor such moneys as may be due to him, until he shall have produced a receipt from the person or persons so making a complaint, that all sums due to them have been fully paid.”

CONTRACT No. 99.—Main Road through Dunedin.—Tenders will be received at the Office of the Secretary of Public Works until noon of Monday, the 31st instant, for the supply of 700 cube yards of 2 1/2 inch Road Metal, for the Main Road through Dunedin.
Conditions of contract may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Road Engineer.
Tenders to be indorsed “Roads—Tender for Contract No. 99.”
The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

MEETING OF THE WAIHOLA WEST DISTRICT ROAD BOARD.—Notice is hereby given that the first Meeting of the recently elected Board of Trustees for the Waihola West Road District, is appointed to be held at the house of Mr. John Fraser, in the said District, upon Wednesday, the 2nd day of November proximo, at 4 o’clock p.m.

MEETING OF THE BROAD BAY DISTRICT ROAD BOARD.—Notice is hereby given that the first meeting of the recently elected Board of Trustees for the Broad Bay Road District, is appointed to be held at the house of Mr. Bacon, within the said District, upon Wednesday, the 2nd day of November proximo, at 4 o’clock p.m.

IMPOUNDED on the 12th day of October, 1864, by George Keith, 2 Goats, for trespassing on Cricket Ground. October 13th, by Constable Lennon, 1 horse, no brand, 3 white feet, white stripe on forehead. October 25th, by George Bryce, 8 Heifers, branded O, trespassing on Mr. Cargill’s Paddock, owners unknown, for which no damages are claimed, and in default of being released the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound, at South Dunedin, on the sixteenth day of November, 1864, at 12 o’clock noon.

In the matter of the “Debtors and Creditors Act, 1862,” and in the matter of the petition of Wolff Harris, trading under the firm of Bing, Harris and Co., of Dunedin, merchant, and in the matter of Thomas Carswell, late of Invercargill, a debtor not in custody.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the above named Wolff Harris has this day presented to his Honor, Mr. Justice Richmond, and filed his petition, praying that the estate of Thomas Carswell, late of Invercargill, general storekeeper, be placed under sequestration for the benefit of all the creditors of the said Thomas Carswell, in the manner provided for by the above mentioned Act, and that his Honor the Judge has accepted the same, and appointed Monday the 28th day of November 1864, at ten o’clock in the forenoon, at the Supreme Court House, Dunedin, for hearing the above petition. Dated at Dunedin, the 21st day of October, 1864.
