HAWKSBURY BUSH ROAD DISTRICT.—

Notice is hereby given, that in pursuance of the
"Roads Ordinance, 1856" and the "Roads Ordi-
nance Amendment Ordinance, 1862," a meeting of the
persons liable to be rated for roads within the recently
proclaimed Road District of Hawksbury Bush, will be
held at the house of Mr. James Henderson, within the
said District, upon Wednesday, the 5th day of October
next, at 1 o’clock p.m., for the purpose of electing
duly qualified persons to act as members of the Hawks-
bury Bush District Board of Road Trustees.

Special attention is directed to the 7th and 9th
sections of the "Roads Ordinance, 1856," regulating
the proceedings for the election of District Road
Boards.

NOTICE.—The Public is requested to observe the
rule of the Waste Land Department, which provides
that all business must be transacted by attendance
at the office, either personally or by an agent.
Persons forwarding documents to the Land Office
through the post, applying for Crown Grants, or re-
questing to have other business transacted, will have
their documents returned to them through the post,
but the Land Office will not be responsible if such
documents are lost in transitu.

A PROCLAMATION
Intimating Her Majesty’s assent to a certain Bill
passed by the General Assembly.

By His Excellency SIR GEORGE GREY, Knight
Commander of the Most Honorable Order
of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colonies
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS by an Act passed in the Session of
Parliament held in the fifteenth and sixteenth
years of Her Majesty’s reign, intituled "An Act to
grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony
of New Zealand," it is amongst other things enacted
that no Bill which shall be reserved for the signifi-
cation of Her Majesty’s pleasure thereon shall have
any force or authority within the Colony of New Zealand,
until the Governor of the said Colony shall signify
by speech or message to the Legislative Council and
House of Representatives of the said Colony, or by
Proclamation, that such Bill has been laid before
Her Majesty in Council, and that Her Majesty has
been pleased to assent to the same:

And whereas a certain Bill passed by the Legisla-
tive Council and House of Representatives of the
said Colony, intituled "An Act to enable Provin-
cial Councils to make laws affecting Public Roads and
Watercourses," was presented to the Governor of
the said Colony for Her Majesty’s assent, and the
said Bill was reserved for the signification of Her
Majesty’s pleasure thereon:

Now therefore I, the Governor of New Zealand,
in pursuance of the provisions of the said in part
recited Act, do, by this Proclamation, signify and
proclaim to all whom it may concern, that the said
Bill has been laid before Her Majesty in Council,
and that Her Majesty has been pleased to assent
to the same.

Given under my hand at Government House
at Auckland, and issued under the seal
of the Colony of New Zealand, this
twenty-sixth day of August, in the year
of our Lord One thousand eight hundred
and sixty-four.
