TOLLS.—Alteration of Rates.—Notice is hereby given, that on and after Monday, the twenty-fourth day of October next, the Schedule of Tolls authorised to be taken by the “Turnpikes Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1864,” will be levied at the several Toll Gates hereafter mentioned, in lieu of the Schedule of Tolls authorised by the “Turnpike Ordinance, 1862,” viz., at the
Water of Leith Toll Gate
Wakari Road Toll Gate
Hillside Toll Gate
Saddle Hill Toll Gate
Lower Taieri Bridge Toll Gate
Waihola Gorge Toll Gate
Clutha and Tuapeka Roads Junction Toll Gate.

A SPECIAL MEETING of the Education Board will be held in the Provincial Secretary’s Office, Dunedin, upon Thursday, the 29th day of September, 1864, at 12 o’clock noon, for the despatch of business.

ELECTION NOTICE—ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF LINDIS.—In pursuance of the provisions of the Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled “The Regulations of Elections Act, 1851,” I, William Buchanan, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Lindis, do hereby give notice, that by virtue of a writ, bearing date the 29th day of August, 1864, issued under the hand of his Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, an Election will be held for the return of a qualified person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the said Electoral District, in the place of Frederick Thomas Walker, Esq., resigned; and that the nomination of candidates will take place at the station of Mr. Henry John Miller, Lindis, on Saturday, the 1st day of October, 1864; and that the poll (if necessary), will be taken on Monday, the 3rd day of October.
