EDUCATIONAL DISTRICTS AND NOTICES
INCH CLUTHA EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT comprises all that area which is bounded on the north by the Clutha River, by block 1, Hillend District, and by South Tuakitoto District; on the east by Kaitangata and Coast Districts and the ocean; on the south by East Clutha District; and on the west by blocks 46, 47, 48, 49, and 50, Clutha District.
WAREPA EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT comprises all that area which is bounded on the north by the Clutha River; on the east by Inch Clutha and East Clutha Educational Districts; on the south by the boundary of the Hundreds; and on the west by sections 8 and 1 of 5, block 2, Warepa District, and by blocks 103, 81, 82, 83, 84, 57, 72, and 80, Clutha District.
KAIHIKU EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT comprises all that area which is bounded on the north by block 7, Pomahaka District, and by the Pomahaka and Clutha Rivers; on the east by Warepa Educational District; on the south by the boundary of the Hundreds; and on the west by block 1, Kuriwao District, and blocks 7 and 6, Pomahaka District.

LAWRENCE EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT—Notice is hereby given, that the locality comprising the Township of Lawrence and vicinity, has been duly formed into an Educational District, in pursuance of the provisions of the “Education Ordinance, 1864,” section 12; and that the following is a description of the said District, viz:—
LAWRENCE EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT comprises all that area which is bounded on all sides by a line extending three miles from the limits of the Township of Lawrence.

HAMPDEN EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT—Notice is hereby given, that the locality comprising the Township of Hampden and vicinity, has been duly formed into an Educational District, in pursuance of the provisions of the “Education Ordinance, 1862;” and that the following is a description of the said District, viz:—
HAMPDEN EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT comprises all that area which is bounded on the north by blocks 9 and 9, Otepopo District; on the east by the Ocean; on the south by blocks 2, 11, and 8, Moeraki District, and by a straight line connecting the northern boundaries of blocks 11 and 8 aforesaid; and on the west by the boundary of the Hundred.

APPLICATIONS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Public Works, until noon of Monday, the 19th instant, for the appointment of Clerk of Works for the New Post Office Building.

ELECTION NOTICES
ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF CLUTHA—In pursuance of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858,” I, Hugh M’Leod, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Clutha, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a writ, bearing date the twenty-sixth day of August, 1864, issued under the hand of His Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, an election will be held for the return of a legally qualified person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the said Electoral District, in place of David Pike Steele, Esquire, resigned; and that the nomination of candidates will take place at the School-house, Warepa, at 12 o’clock noon on Saturday, the 1st day of October, 1864; and that the poll (if necessary) will be taken on Monday, the 3rd day of October, 1864.

The following places are polling places for the District of Clutha: the School-house, Warepa; the School-house, South Clutha; the Survey Office, Popotunoa; Mr. Trumble’s Station, Otario.
ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF LINDIS—In pursuance of the provisions of the Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled “The Regulations of Elections Act, 1851,” I, William Buchanan, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Lindis, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a writ, bearing date the 26th day of August, 1864, issued under the hand of His Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, an election will be held for the return of a qualified person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the said Electoral District, in the place of Frederick Thomas Walker, Esq., resigned; and that the nomination of candidates will take place at the station of Mr. Henry John Miller, Lindis, on Saturday, the 1st day of October, 1864; and that the poll (if necessary) will be taken on Monday, the 3rd day of October, 1864.

NOTICE TO MARINERS
Captain Machin of the Steamship “Claude Hamilton,” reports having seen a wreck or reef, when passing about five miles to the Eastward of Flat Point, during the night. Masters of vessels are requested to keep a good lookout when navigating in that locality, and in the event of observing anything unusual, to report particulars to the Marine Board.
