OTAGO PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

WEST TAIERI ROAD DISTRICT DIVIDED, AND WAIPORI ROAD DISTRICT FORMED.

PROCLAMATION,

By the Honorable John Hyde Harris, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled the "Roads Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1862," it is among other things enacted in the 12th Section thereof, that for the purposes of the said Ordinance, the said Province, except as is therein excepted, may from time to time be divided into districts; and until otherwise provided, pursuant to the provisions of the said Ordinance, there shall be twenty-five districts, which shall be named and bounded as in the Schedule to the said Ordinance annexed; and it is also in the said 12th Section provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the General Road Board, from time to time, by proclamation in the Government Gazette, to alter, vary, diminish, or enlarge the boundaries of any or all of such districts, and to increase the number of districts by forming and naming new districts, or by dividing any district into two or more districts.

And whereas in the said Schedule the West Taieri district therein named is described as comprising all that area, bounded on the north and west by the boundary of the Hundreds; on the east by the Taieri River; on the south by the Waipori branch, lake, and river. And whereas it is necessary to divide the said West Taieri District into two Road Districts, to be called respectively the West Taieri Road District and the Waipori Road District;—Now therefore I, the said Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the General Road Board, do hereby proclaim and declare that the said West Taieri Road District shall henceforth be divided into two districts, the one to be named the West Taieri Road District, the other to be named the Waipori Road District, and that the West Taieri Road District shall comprise all that area, bounded on the north-west by the boundary of the Hundreds; on the east by the Taieri River to the east corner of block four, (IV) Maungatua Survey District; and on the south-west by block four (IV,) Maungatua Survey District, to section numbered 38, irregular block, West Taieri Survey District, thence along the western boundary of block three (III,) Maungatua Survey District, to the boundary line between sections numbered respectively 11 and 12, block two (II,) West Taieri Survey District, thence along the boundary line between the said sections and its continuation in the same direction to the boundary of the Hundreds; and that the said Waipori Road District shall comprise all that area bounded on the north-west by the boundary of the Hundreds; on the north-east by the West Taieri Road District; on the south-east by the Taieri River; and on the south-west by the Waipori Lake and Waipori River.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this thirteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four.
