PROCLAMATION.

Dunedin Sanitary Commission.

To all to whom these presents shall come,
Greeting :

WHEREAS, it is expedient that a Commission should be appointed to inquire into the present state of the Sewerage and Drainage of the City of Dunedin, and generally into the Sanitary Condition of the said City : Now, therefore, I, John Hyde Harris, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby nominate and appoint

James Hector, Esq., M.D., F.G.S.
John Turnbull Thomson, Esq., C.E., F.G.S.
Edward Hulme, Esq., M.D.
The Rev. Donald M. Stuart
Frederick Hall Richardson, Esq., M.R.C.S.
Alfred Eccles, Esq., M.R.C.S.

to be Commissioners to inquire into and report upon the existing state of the Drainage and Sewerage of the City of Dunedin in the said Province, and the Sanitary Condition of the said City, and the best and most available means for improving the same.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this twenty-third day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four.

COMMISSION.

To all to whom these Presents shall come,
Greeting :

WHEREAS it is expedient that a Commission should be appointed to inquire into the value of the unsold Lands in the Province of Otago, and to classify the same, shewing the natural position-value of the said Lands, and those Lands which have acquired position-value from the formation of roads and other circumstances, and the capabilities of the said Lands; and also to ascertain the auriferous character of the aforesaid Lands, and what portions it would be desirable to withdraw from sale in consequence; and, further, to inquire into the extent and permanency of the Gold-fields of the said Province: Now therefore,

I, John Hyde Harris, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby nominate and appoint—

John Turnbull Thomson, Esq., C.E., Chief Surveyor;
William Henry Cutten, Esq., J.P., Chief Commissioner of the Waste Land Board;
James Hector, Esq., M.D., Provincial Geologist;
and
Henry John Miller, Esq., Secretary for Public Works;

to be Commissioners for the purposes aforesaid, and to make the said inquiries and to report to me thereon.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this twenty-third day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four.
